NIEMIEC, Irena Goertz – Of Sarnia and formerly of Windsor, passed peacefully at Chelsey Park Nursing Home on Monday, February 10th, 2014 in her 90th year. Beloved wife of Stan Niemiec of Sarnia. Survived by her daughter Joanna Truant and her husband Greg and their daughter Julia; and step-son Mark Niemiec and his partner Chris Fahrlander. Predeceased by her first husband Aleksander Goertz and son Mark Goertz. Special thank you to the staff of the 5th floor at Chelsey Park Nursing Home for their compassion and care. At Irena’s request, there will be no funeral service. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated in Sarnia at a later date.

Stan. I hope you remember me. I was married to Roma, Irene's niece. I was saddened to read of Aunt Irene's passing in the Windsor paper. She was always very kind to Roma and me and I was quite fond of her. My deepest condolences on your loss. P. S. Helen is being cared for in a nursing home in Lennoxville, Quebec, where Ross[Jr.] lives. She is healthy physically for her age, but no longer speaks or recognizes Ross[Jr.]or me. Regards, Ross

Dear Stan and to the family of Irene. I’m so sadden to hear this. Irena was very special lady to me for over 25 years. We shared so many stories of her younger days over lunch & tea. Irena is another angel in Heaven and knowing she will be looking down on all of us that loved her dearly. Rest in peace Irena xo
