Irene Boyne

Peacefully, at Chateau Gardens Long-Term Care, in London, on Thursday, April 23rd, 2015, Irene Boyne passed away in her 94th year. Beloved wife of the late George Boyne, originally of Scotland. Loving mother to her son Klaus Meier, of London, and his wife Marcia. Sadly missed by many family members in Germany and personal friends in London and Windsor. Irene was born in Karlsruhe, Germany where she worked as a telegraph and telephone operator until her immigration to Canada in 1951. She spent most of her working life as an operating room assistant at both Hôtel Dieu and Grace Hospitals in Windsor, Ontario. Irene moved to London where she enjoyed Tai Chi, travel and social interactions with her friends at Riverside Retirement Residence. The family would like to thank the nursing staff and caregivers at Chateau Gardens for the exceptional care and support provided during her years of residence. Cremation has taken place and a private family memorial service and inurnment will take place at Green Lawn Memorial Gardens, Windsor at a later date. As an expression of sympathy, donations in Irene’s memory to the Alzheimer Society of Canada would be greatly appreciated by the family.

Our sincere sympathy in the loss of your Mother. She was a cherished friend. We had many beautiful trips together and spent a great deal of time with each other over the years. She will be sadly missed. May the memories of all she meant to you give you comfort at this sad time.
