Isabelle Elma Sandiland (née Cunningham)

December 11, 2018

There is dancing in heaven and heavy hearts on earth as the Sandiland family said final goodbyes to our matriarch Isabelle Elma Sandiland on Tuesday, December 11, 2018. Four months shy of her 90th birthday, Issie has gone to dance cheek to cheek once again with “Sandy”, the late Thomas James Sandiland, her husband of almost 50 years. Isabelle was the eldest of four children born to John Henry and Wilhelmina Cunningham in Birch Hills, Saskatchewan. Sister to Barb O’Regan (Jimmy), “Littlest” baby brother, Freddy (late Carolyn) and the late Alex Cunningham (Doreen). The family spent many happy years in New Glasgow, NS. Issie was happiest when her own “chicks” were home in Cobourg sharing a meal, laughs and definitely a glass of wine. Children: Craig Sandiland (Janet Hill), Mark Sandiland (Margaret) and Julie Simpson (Colin Grantham) were blessed by her love, humour and her lessons of the value of a dollar. Grandchildren: Brian (Lianne), Kim (Matt), Stephanie, Devan, JJ and Meghan along with Great-Grands, Willa, Eddie, Wren and Viola made her heart burst with pride. Special thanks to the remarkable, caring staff of McCormick Home, as well as Strathmere Lodge.  Keep doin’ “loopsh” Issie!  Family and friends are invited to celebrate Isabelles’s life at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, on Sunday, December 16, 2018 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. The family will share memories at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a donation in memory of Issie are asked to consider SARI Therapeutic Riding, McCormick Care Foundation, Meals on Wheels or a charity of your choice.

So sorry to hear that Isabelle has past away. I readily recall the great times of fun and laughter and a few sad occasions we shared over the years. Adrian joins me in sending our condolences to the family.

May the God of all comfort, Jehovah, strengthen the family during this difficult time in your lives. Those who are sleeping in death (John 11:11) God keeps in his memory because they are precious in his eyes. My sincerest condolences.
