James William Walker

Well, at last they’re together forever again! Our dad, Jim Walker, passed away Thursday, September 17, 2026, at the age of 91. Just a “young man” compared to his own grandparents. He’s joining our mom, Doreen, his love of 67 years. His pride and joy, his children, David (Shannon) and Nancy, will miss him greatly. Born February 7, 1935, to Harry and Velma Walker in Matheson. He was predeceased by his sisters Joan and Rena, and survived by his brothers Russell and Larry. He greatly enjoyed his grandchildren, James (Samantha) and Paul (Alexandra), Stephanie (Scott), Andrew, Ashton, Connor, and their 8 great-grandchildren.

Dad spent his working years (37) with Canadian Pacific Railway, and thirteen years on the passenger ship SS Assiniboia with Canadian Pacific Great Lakes steamships. The balance was as Assistant Mechanical Supervisor on the trains in Woodstock and London. We moved at least 9 times with “the job”. He finally retired in 1990, and he was lucky enough to enjoy 36 years of it!

Dad loved horse races, gambling, casinos, euchre, and travelling the world with Mom. A man strong in his convictions and strong in his opinions, he would always say, “I’ve had a very good life!”

Our heartfelt thanks to everyone on C7-400 Oncology at Victoria Hospital who made Dad’s stay over the past 2 months so comfortable and who caught a glimpse of the man, “the comedian,” Dad could be.

Visitation will take place at Westview Funeral Home and Cremation Centre, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, on Friday, October 23, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. A private family interment to follow. Cremation has taken place.
