Our sincere condolences in the passing of your Dad. He was a great neighbor and friend to our Mother, Cecilia. His stories and sence of humor will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Sincerely, Rosemary & Steve Nagle-Cafik
I met Bill over a year ago while helping out with the Bingo's at Parkwood Hospital. I would go over put my hands on his cards, tell him he's going to win and that he did. I went looking for him when he stopped going to bingo, so I'd go visit and pull the spare change out of my pocket and hand it to him, saying " here's your bingo winnings from lastnight", which always made him smile. That special few minutes I will always remember. Rest in Peace my friend, We will Remember you Bill.
I worked with Bill (called him Mr. Harkins back then) when I first joined IDB (then FBDB and now BDC) in 1974. Bill was always so pleasant and helpful and a great mentor. I was fortunate to have had a recent conversation with Bill. My sincere sympathy in the loss of your father and grandfather.
My sincere condolences to the family. I always enjoyed my time with Bill. We first met in 1982 when I had lunch at his house in Woodstock. We kept in touch over the years and I visited him at his apartment in Cherryhill several times. I visited him at Parkwood, most recently a couple of weeks ago. He told me of his health problems and that there was no point in enduring further operations. He allowed as how he had lived a good life, so he seemed at peace and prepared for the next phase. A valued friend indeed.
Bill will be truly missed. He was a fine man and a very proud veteran. When I retired last December as Chaplain on his unit at Parkwood Hospital, he was asked to share some words about me on CTV News- London. He was so articulate and kind. God bless you as you grieve, mourn and celebrate his love and his life.
