Janet Elizabeth Davis
August 22, 1929 - July 3, 2025
Peacefully at home on Thursday, July 3rd, 2025, in her 96th year, and now safe in the arms of Jesus. Daughter of the late Ernest James Davis and Edith Marian Davis (née Steven). Janet will be deeply missed. She was predeceased by her beloved sisters Marie Martin (Ernest), Muriel Davis, and Elaine Griffiths (David). A cherished aunt to Linda and Jim Finn, Donald and Gloria Martin, Ruth and Steve Maude, Doug and Sue Martin, Allan and Leslie Griffiths, Mark and Susan Griffiths, and Jonathan and Bel Griffiths, a loving great-aunt to 14, and great-great aunt to two. She will also be fondly remembered by extended family and many dear friends.
Born to missionary parents on August 22, 1929, in Hunan Province, China, Janet went on to become a missionary herself, and a dedicated nurse, serving in the Philippines for more than thirty years. Her life was a testament to quiet strength, unwavering faith, and deep compassion.
Sincere thanks to the amazing staff at Fox Hollow, London, Dr. Metusa, and the kind and generous team at the VON.
A service will be held at Westview Funeral Home, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, on Wednesday, July 9, 2025 at 11:00 a.m., with visitation one hour prior.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Stoney Creek Baptist Church, the VON, or a charity of your choice.

I have fond memories of Janet in the Philippines. When we (younger missionaries) would go to Banaue on vacation, we could identify her house as we went by, because she had a Canadian flag in the window. She had a wealth of knowledge and insight into the Ifugao people, and she loved them. One time when we were in Banaue she hosted us for a meal in her home. I was also able to visit her once in a retirement home near (or in) London. She was active in the fellowship and worship there, and she was looking after her sister Muriel. Janet was a blessing to me as a young missionary on the field. I look forward to seeing her again in heaven.
We knew Janet for many years but especially enjoyed seeing her ministry as a nurse in the Ifugao region of northern Luzon. Her nursing was important but she was also skilled at transformational community development ideas that would help raise tribal villagers standard of living and extend lives. I still use placemats - woven at least 45 years ago by some of her Ifugao weavers that she helped buy durable thread with micro loans. She was WAY ahead of her times!!

Though my church supported Janet in her ministry in the Philippines, it was through the interactions of my mother, Maxine Ellis, with the Davis family, that led me to develop a friendship with Janet and Muriel. They were both such an encouragement to me, as I began my overseas ministry. The picture chosen for her remembrance shows the twinkle in her eyes, as she had such a delightful sense of humour. I was able to have a lovely visit with her last year when I was back in Canada. Janet indeed was an inspiration to me. I know she has heard her Saviour say, "Well done my good and faithful servant". My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. I know her service will be glorifying to God.
