Jean Frances Halcrow
March 2, 2019
Peacefully passed away, at her home in Kitchener, on Saturday, March 2, 2019, in her 92nd year. Beloved wife of Peter (2011) for 63 years. Loving mother of Donna (Peter) Grudnik of North Bay and Gary (Melissa) Halcrow of Kitchener. Dearest grandmother of Kendra and Robert (Bianca) Grudnik, Jennifer (Edward) and James Halcrow. Jean was the last of her generation in the Halcrow family, and is now reunited with Peter, many friends and family.
She maintained and enjoyed close relationships with lifelong friends Marion Macaulay, Lois Krukowski and Mary Nunn. Jean started her career as an operator for Bell Canada in Beamsville at 16 years old, spanning 14 years, where she met Peter. She finished her career in 1990 after 23 wonderful years at Sheppard, Mackenzie, Plaxton, Little and Jenkins in London, Ontario.
We remember Jean in several ways, but mostly for her sparkling sense of humour and her laughter, a passion to enjoy life and to have fun. Wherever she was, she set out to meet new people and was able to charm most to make cherished relationships. It was not uncommon to be told by acquaintances how wonderful a person she was. Jean enjoyed baking her famous butter tarts, playing cards; especially Bridge, Euchre and Cribbage. She enjoyed many years of entertaining family and friends at the cottage on Lake Nipissing, and always looked forward to opening season for the Toronto Blue Jays; she rarely missed a game. Jean will be missed by the family and friends she took such great care of.
A memorial service will be conducted at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, on Friday, March 8, 2019 at 2:00 p.m., with visitation one hour prior. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Jean are asked to consider Alzheimer Society London and Middlesex.

Dear Gary & Melissa, Donna & Peter , and family We are thinking of all of you and are sorry for your loss. Jean was a very special friend to my mom (Hazel Quigley, sister of Marie Culp). I have fond memories as a child visiting your house in London with my parents. Your mom was a great cook and always a great hostess. Hugs to all of you. Susan, Bill, Terry, Alex & Marie Culp.
Thinking of you and sending hugs. Be kind to yourselves in this season of grief. Wishing you strength, fond memories and friends to support you. May the love of Christ hold you tight. Lois Krukowski and family.

Dearest Halcrow family, Please accept my greatest sympathy for the loss of Jean. We were neighbors on Gretna Green (the Chunns) and enjoyed many get-togethers with Jean and Peter. My dad, Don, and she were both at Amica for a time, and I was happy to see her there and have a chat. Strangely, she and Dad passed away on the same day - and we are using Westview's services as well, although Dad's won't be until June. Wishing you peace at this difficult time. My love to all of you.
