Carole, Shannon, Greg and Family, We are so very sorry for your loss. Living side by side for over 10 years Jim holds a special place in our hearts. He was a wonderful and kind man. He will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. We are thinking of you all.

Carole I am so sorry to hear of Jim's passing, he was one of the most compassionate people that I have ever met, we all shared many wonderful times thru baseball, and gatherings with the kids. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Shannon and Greg you dad was a wonderful man who loved you and the kids very much, he will be greatly missed.

Dear Carole and Family, I was very sorry to hear of Jim's passing. Jim was there the day I joined the Optimist Club of Byron in 1991, with a big smile and warm welcome. I enjoyed working on many events with him throughout the years. I attended the memorial service last evening and the attendance was a testament to a life lived well - loved and respected by those lives he touched throughout the years. The tributes by your grand children were wonderful and sounds like they will follow in his lead of volunteering. He will be fondly remembered and missed.

Dear Mrs. Honsberger and Family, I attended the visitation and Remembrance for Jim but did not have the opportunity to stay longer to actually meet with you and to express my condolences. My connection with Jim was through his employment with the City of London, where I served as the Director of Roads and Transportation until retiring myself in 2011. Although Jim did not report to me directly, we often collaborated on materials going forward to City Council. I was very fond and respectful of Jim's sound and thorough work but the thing that I will remember best is his personality. Jim had a unique and teasing manner in his tolerance of senior management and their 'what frivolous thing do you want me to do now' requests. So I thank Jim for keeping me humble. Although I knew Jim through work, I was not aware of his extensive community volunteering and, of course, the great parenting that shone through the Remembrances. Jim was truly a treasure to those that knew him and to the community at large for the generosity of his volunteering. I wish you solace for the times ahead and strength in your memories of a good man.

I have known Jim for a great many years through his ski trips and work in the Transportation Division at the City. Jim was known to enjoy a drink of rum or several on the bus ride home from Holiday Valley and so he always had his own ice bucket so his drinks could be properly cooled. There were those that on occasion imbibed a little more than they should on those trips. On one particular trip, someone who perhaps had a touch of food poisoning felt the need to deposit his lunch in Jim's ice bucket. Jim was most indignant that someone could defile his beloved ice bucket. Jim was a real gentleman liked by all who knew him and he will be missed. Rest in peace Jim ken Briggs

Shannon - you and your family have been on our mind and in our prayers over the past week, and very much today as you say goodbye to your Dad. It sounds like he has left an amazing legacy in your hearts and the great connection he had with his grandchildren - an invaluable gift! Take care of yourselves and each other as you reflect and celebrate his life.

I have known Jim for over 50 years and he was the best friend and Brother-in-Law a person could ever have. I really appreciate everything he and his family have done for my family and me.

Carole and family - My deepest sympathy in the loss of Jim. We admired his dedication to volunteering and active development and participation the many activities, including O.A.C.E.T.T. (Ont. Assn of Engineering Technicians & Technologists), Track Three, and co-ordination of the many ski bus trips to Collingwood and Ellicottville. We will miss you Jim.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Jim's family at this sad time. Jim and I followed each other to Beamsville High School, St. Catharines Collegiate and Ryerson. Oh for the good old days! Deepest sympathy to the Honsberger family.

What a loss - I only had the pleasure of knowing Jim thanks to his ski bus - his enthusiasm and enjoyment of life were infectious. Deepest sympathy to members of Jim's family on your loss.

To Carole and family, my condolences on Jim's sudden passing. He is a kind, soft-hearted gentleman who always brought a smile to me and others around him. Everyone has trials in their lives, yet Jim overcame and moved beyond his when associating with others. What a great example! God bless!

I have many fond memories of Jim, from working with him on the City's Charity Chest committee, and from the ski buses. He was a terrific guy and will be missed.

We are so sorry to hear of Jim's passing. 1975 was the year we started playing ball together, Sunday night hockey at West Lions, the Collingwood ski trips, Thanksgiving football games to Detroit , ice fishing trips and all the ball team get togethers after games. Great memories that will always be cherished. Thinking of you Carole, Shannon and Greg. Jim was a great guy.

I am so sorry to hear of Jim's passing. I remember the good times we all shared as our husbands played baseball together & we'd gather together after with kids in toe at someone's house( yours included) now with so many of them gone( Ian, Bill, Dan, Joe, Brad) & now Jim, we still have the memories. Jim and I were neighbours on Cherry Avenue as youngsters and teenagers. We had a wonderful youth. Life was gentle, carefree and perfect. I have not seen Jim since then but I often think of those days. Jim was a kind boy. Always smiling and pleasant and kind. My memories of Jim are very fond. My deepest condolences to the family and of course to Bonnie whom I knew very well also.

Carole and family - I am so sorry to hear of Jims (Huntz) passing. We both grew up on Cherry Ave. in Vineland, Ontario, played softball together on the same team. I have a lot of good memories of Jim. He was a great man and he will be missed. May he rest in peace.

Oh Huntz... The old Maple Grove & BHS Alumni are thinning-out. Such great memories of Cherry Avenue, hunting on the mountain, football, etc. You were such a big tough farm boy; how could it be over... I met Jim my first day in grade one at Vineland Public School. He sat at the desk behind me and he was not happy to be there. We became friends and spent many happy times at his house after school. In those days Jim had beautiful golden curly locks and was built like a bear. But he had a gentle disposition and was a good guy to have as a friend. Later we both moved away and started lives of our own, and I didn't see Jim much after we both got into our thirties. But I will always think back to that special time when we were growing up together in a small town. Go in peace Jim.
