In Loving Memory of Joanna Marusia Holowchak
Joanna Marusia Holowchak died peacefully on Sunday, June 14, 2026 at the McCormick Home in London. She was 84 and had lived with dementia for many years.
She was predeceased by her parents Atanas and Anne Holowchak, and her sisters Marlene Walter and Tamara Carter.
Jo was fiercely independent, and that didn’t change, even as the dementia progressed. She kept her sense of humour and quick wit, which made people laugh. Jo found joy in life’s simple pleasures, especially watching birds and going for walks. She also had a lifelong love of languages and cultures.
Joanne was passionate about politics, especially women’s rights in the workplace. She cared deeply about fairness and equality. She believed strongly in standing up for others and advocating for those whose voices were often unheard.
She will be missed by her family, friends and everyone who knew her. Special thanks to the staff of Maple Grove, McCormick home, for making Jo-Jo’s last few years a memorable, happy time.
Forever remembered.
Goodbye Joanne, you were a good friend and I will miss you a lot. I love what your family wrote about you, the sense of humor, the wit but also how much a caring person you were. You have a special place in my heart and will always remember you. Rest in peace.
