Joel Alexander Cameron

June 25, 1981 - March 11, 2023

We are devastated to announce the untimely loss of our beautiful Joel at the hand of another on Saturday, March 11, 2023.

Joel leaves behind his dearly-loved son, Dameon; parents, Rod and Barb Cameron; brother Adam (Anna); and his nieces, Holly and Mae.  His loss is also mourned by his aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.  Joel believed in an afterlife and we hope he is walking the trails along the Thames, through the Coves and beyond with his two walking buddies, Sancho and Clarence – his dogs who predeceased him.

Joel was an excellent roller blader and loved BMX biking.  He would show up at parties with a goldfish bowl stuffed with jokes.  Joel was the drummer for a punk band called Rogue Nine in his teen years, and he was proud to have played at Call the Office.  In his late teens he was struck by lightning and survived, seemingly unscathed, but it coincided with the start of his struggles.

Joel became an accomplished plumber who took pride in ‘doing it right’ and making it look that way.  He was artistic, musical, loved movies and video games, and would have burgers at any time of day or night.  He also enjoyed fishing, canoeing and a good campfire.  His dream was to save enough money to move to BC and live off the grid and maybe start a pot farm.  Joel tried his best to be a good dad, son, brother and uncle.  He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

The family would like to express appreciation to the London Police Services who have shown kindness and respect throughout this ordeal.

A memorial reception will be held at Westview Funeral Chapel, 709 Wonderland Road North, London from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 19, 2023.  Private interment has taken place at Woodland Cemetery, London. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Humane Society London & Middlesex or Friends of the Coves would be appreciated.

A donation has been made to Humane Society London & Middlesex. Message from the donator: In memory of Joel Alexander Cameron, who kept space in his heart for his walking buddies, Sancho and Clarence. Joel understood the grounding experience a dog can offer - whether walking outdoors with one of his canine buddies or settled at home with his dog's heartbeat at his feet. Shirley & Bob

Bless those who mourn, eternal God, with the comfort of your Love that they may face each new day with hope and the certainty that nothing can destroy the good that has been given. As long as we live, they too will live, for they are now apart of us, as we remember them. Iam so sorry this has happened to your family, I only found out today or I would have been there. My tears and love are with you.

Dear Rod, Barb and family, My family and I are quite numb to learn of Joel's sudden passing. Mere words are simply inadequate at this time to express our sorrow appropriately for such a tragic loss. Based on our own experience, the only consolation for your devastating loss right now is that the precious memories of Joel in your respective lives and your profound appreciation of what he stood for will remain with you forevermore in your hearts. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this most difficult time. Gerhard and family.
