John Alexander Ambrose

April 17, 2019

It is with sad hearts that we announce the passing of John Alexander Ambrose on Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at Parkwood Veterans Care just short of his 94th birthday. Beloved husband and best friend of Margaret (2012) for over 65 years. Loving father of Gail (Sid) Prior of Mt. Brydges, John (Velda) Ambrose of Toronto, and Wendy (Bill) Hope of Mt. Brydges. Dear grandfather of Derrick (Diane) and Kevin (Jennifer) Prior, Matthew and Anthony Ambrose, and Randy (Karen), and Tammy Hope (Skeeter Pallister). Also survived by 12 great grandchildren:  Michael, Sydney, Evan, Aidan and Olivia Prior, Alexandra, Americo and Riley Ambrose, Taylor and Samantha Hope, and Kippin and Finnley Pallister. John was born April 25, 1925 in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan and was the last of his family, having been predeceased by his parents John James Ambrose (1991) and Mary Elizabeth (Green) (1984), brother, William (1995), sisters, Margaret Cadotte (2009), Mary Coppin (2006) and Daisy Stimpson (1986). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. John was a long-time resident of the Byron community, from 1954 when he moved his family there to begin his career with Supertest Petroleum. Family and his church were very important to John. He was dedicated to his family and friends and spent many hours helping, encouraging and teaching his children, grandchildren and friends. John was very active and pursued many activities both outdoors and indoors including woodworking, upholstering, skating, skiing, swimming, camping, canoeing, scuba diving, sailing, and especially dancing. He was especially well known for his poetry and writing. Friends and family will be received at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London on Friday, April 26th, 2019 with visitation at 1:00 p.m. followed by the service at 3:00 p.m. Private interment will be held at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, London at a later date.
