Peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, August 15, 2015 at University Hospital, John Nico Vandelaar, of London, in his 84th year. Beloved husband of Tinie (née deMol). Cherished father of Grace and Scott Hebb, Diane and Mike Courtney, Annette and Gary Hewitt, John Vandelaar, Chris Vandelaar and Christine Siroyt-Vandelaar. Cherished and loving Opa of Greg Hebb and Samantha Hodgins, Steven Hebb and Lisa Hillen, Nicole Courtney and Adrian Kaiser, Kailey Courtney and Derek Courtney, Alec Vandelaar and Virgil Vandelaar. Father-in-law of Nathalie Grenier. Sadly missed by his siblings Sjef and Dora, Cor and Nelly, Riek and Marius, Toon and his friend Dinie, Gerda and Toon and Johan and Tineke; his brother-in-law Piet; and by many nieces and nephews in the Netherlands. Predeceased by his parents Joost and Gerarda (née van de Beeten) van de Laar; and by his siblings Harry van de Laar and his wife Nelly and Nelly Meulendyks. Visitation will be held at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, on Tuesday from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at ST. JOHN THE DIVINE PARISH, 390 Base Line Road West, London, on Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery, London. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a donation in memory of John are asked to consider the Alzheimer Society or Parkinson Society.

Dear Vandelaar Family I was very sorry to hear of John's passing. I rented an apartment from him 20 years ago with friends from PEI. Deepest condolences from the Nabuurs family in PEI.

Dear tante Tinie, Grace and Scott, Diane and Mike, Annette and Gary, John and Nathalie, Chris and Chrissy and all the grandchilderen and partners, This afternoon I heard that my dear uncle Jan passed away. I feel so very sorry for you. He was such a very nice and friendly uncle, I keep good memories and I'll never forget that! We sent our sincere condoleances to all of you. And pray that the strength of God will surround you these sorrowful days and specially tomorrow during the funeral. You will be in our mind and heart! I am so sorry for The loss of Your Husband John.... I will always remember Him as the Man holding that Umbrella to start that Dance at the Dutch Club especially during Kavalkade . Your Family will be in my thoughts and Prayers during this most difficult time.
