Dear Myrtle and family, we are very sorry for your loss. Thinking of you all during this very difficult time. God bless all of you.
The world’s best grandpa a girl could ever ask for. To know him was to feel loved, safe, and endlessly spoiled. His sense of humour filled every room, but it was his gentle, generous heart that made him unforgettable. For years, he called me his “Great Dane.” I loved it—until the day I realized it was a dog and got mad at him for calling me one. He would laugh, that quiet giggle I’ll miss forever, and say, “No, no… it’s only because you’re the greatest Dane around.” That was him—always teasing, always loving, always making sure you knew you were special. He helped me win at cards when no one was looking and somehow made sure I always had extra dessert. Those small acts were really big ones—his way of showing love without ever needing recognition. On my wedding day, he held my hand during our first look and told me I was the second most beautiful bride he had ever seen. Then he wished me a lifetime of love like the one he had known. It is a moment I will carry with me for the rest of my life. My heart aches in a way words can’t fully capture. I will miss him more than anything. But alongside the pain, there is peace—knowing he is finally at rest, surrounded by love, and free from struggle. I am endlessly grateful to have been his granddaughter. He will live on in every laugh, every card game, every sweet moment I remember.
