One of, if not the best, teachers I've ever had.. wow. Gonna miss coffee time :)

We all rode on the same school bus as Jim and Sandra. We remember Jim as a really nice guy...he was always kind to us. Jennifer (Redinger)Fulmer, Jeff Redinger, Melanie Mulcaster, Lana Mulcaster -Kris Manz Monica and Jacqueline Manz He was a great guy and will be missed. We are sad to hear of his passing.

Jim was a great leader and a really decent human being. His loss is a tremendous loss for us all.

Jim was a very professional worker and an excellent friend always ready to help and teach. My wife Desiree and myself are deeply touched by this loss. He will be missed. Our sincere condolences to his wife and family. Rest in peace our dear friend. We will remember you forever. God blessed your soul.

Words fall short of expressing my sorrow for your loss. I knew Jim as my Instructor at Fanshawe College and in life. Jim's passion for inspiring people and driven inspiration is to be admired. I consider it to be privileged to have known him. My deepest condolences to the Kolar family.

The Canadian Armed Forces lost one of their best leaders. Jim was one of the most knowledgeable, hard-working soldiers I have had the pleasure of working with who set the example for everyone to aspire to. My condolences, thoughts and prayers go out to Jim's family during this difficult time.

A gentle soul ascended to heaven, leaving behind a lot of pain. I am still in shock and am so sorry that he's gone. My most sincere condolences to Sandra and Mike, and to Moon and to the rest of Jim's family, friends and colleagues. Jim was one if the most interesting people I ever met. Although we have not been in regular contact for a while, I would like to let his friends and family know that it was my privilege to be his friend. Rest in peace, buddy.

Dear Moon, I am truly sorry for your loss. I just heard about this this, and want to say that Jim will always live on in my heart, and mind. Not a single day has passed since I had seen him last that I do not reflect on the lessons I had learnt while under his instruction. I am super grateful to him for taking me on as a student in his programs. They were extremely useful, and helped me countless times along the way. He was an amazing person/teacher/friend who taught me so much. The influence his presence made upon my life was profound. I believe because of him, I am a better person. I had so many stories I wanted to share with him about how effective his programs truly were for me. I regret not reaching out sooner for advice, and guidance, because I have so many questions that I know he would have the answers for. My sincerest regret, and deepest sympathy to Jims family. Hard to believe that Jim is gone. I will never forget how his passion for Martial Arts made learning so much fun. He will be greatly missed by all of his students past & present. I was happy to call you friend for all those years.

Jim was my platoon warrant and my sensei for a time, and I am a better person today for having known him then. I'm sorry I won't be able to make the service as I'm living in BC, but I will be there in spirit. Hard to believe Jim's gone. I only got to meet him for the first time during the summer of this year while visiting his daughter/my partner Elizabeth. He and the rest of the family were so welcoming to me. I'm just glad I got the chance to meet him before it was too late. The only real solace to be found in this is knowing that he no longer has to suffer with his illness. Rest in Peace, Jim.

I had the pleasure with working with MWO Jim Kolar in 2014 and was one of best I was able to work with. He always made sure to support his subordinates and was always there with advice on being better soldiers. He also taught us his passion for martial arts and was great to be able to train with him. I wish I can be there on your journey jim but I know it's a path to a life without pain and you will always be watching us. RIP Jim

The world lost an amazing person, Jim will always be remembered for his hard work and dedication and his service that he always put into everything he did, but to me his kindness and patience he had in teaching others is what I will remember the most. It was great sadness that I heard of Jim's illness and death. I had the honour of serving with Sergeant-Major Kolar during his years as an Army Civil-Military Cooperation and Influence Activities specialist. Jim was respected by those he worked with in the IA community for his commitment and professionalism as a CIMIC operator and abilities as a leader and mentor of soldiers. His common sense, wit and gentle good humour will be deeply missed by those like me lucky enough to have known him as a comrade and friend. My deepest condolences to Moon and Jim's family.

An inspiration and leader to the end. His legacy will live on through the troops he trained, the students he taught and his family. A large foot print on this earth.
