Karen Dawson

Loving wife, mother and, grandmother, Karen Dawson passed peacefully in her home surrounded by loved ones. She is survived by her beloved husband of 42 years and incredible caregiver, Tom, twin daughters Shannon (Joe), and Meaghan (Vince), grandchildren Celes, Leo, Millie and Vincent, and grand-dog Maui.

She will be dearly missed by her siblings Mary Ann, Dianne (Stephen) and twin brother John (Connie), her nieces Erin, Maggie, and Grace, and nephews, Daniel, Michael, and twins Matthew and Nicholas. Predeceased by her loving parents C. J. ‘Mack’ and Mildred Dawson, beloved sister-in-law Jane Dawson, and yellow lab Misty.

Karen was retired from a long career with the London District Catholic School Board. Taking on several different roles throughout her time there, she had a lasting and positive impact on students and staff in elementary and high school, whom she helped and supported. She was incredibly grateful for the dear friendships she made along the way.

Karen’s family are deeply appreciative of the support and care provided by her palliative care team, including Dr. Hamilton and Dr. Stack, the nursing staff and PSWs over these last 6 months and especially in these last few weeks. They express their sincere gratitude to Dr. Dhaliwal, Dr. Lau, and Dr. Mawji for their care.

Karen will be laid to rest by her loving husband and daughters in the Kintore Presbyterian Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, as Karen advocated for the continued support of cancer research and prevention initiatives.
