Karen Lorraine Lelievre

May 3, 2025

Peacefully at home on Saturday, May 3, 2025, Karen Lorraine Lelievre passed away at the age of 56. Beloved wife of Andrew Lelievre and proud mother of Austin, Melissa, and the late Nicholas. Karen was the cherished daughter of Judy Gale, dear sister of Kevin Craig, and predeceased by her sister Tara.

A graduate of Clarke Road Secondary School, where she once starred as Sandy in Grease, Karen went on to earn her degree from Western University (Huron College). She formed lifelong friendships that she treasured deeply, and those friends remained an important part of her life throughout the years. Karen loved her first job at Wendy’s that evolved into entrepreneurship when she owned and operated a Sunoco franchise. She later brought that same dedication and enthusiasm to sales, first at Bell Canada and most recently with FloorSource, where her warmth and genuine care for customers made her a standout colleague. A gifted performer, Karen lit up the stage with her beautiful singing voice and magnetic presence in community theatre productions, notably with the Strathroy Community Players and the Port Stanley Summer Theatre. She also loved roller skating and cherished traveling, especially Caribbean cruises taken with family and friends. Karen’s legacy is one of laughter, music, kindness, and love—a light that will continue to shine in the hearts of those who knew her.

This light was found in her love for her family. Karen loved her family. That love was founded in her faith in the Lord Jesus and the Catholic Church. Her prayers and steadfast perseverance got her through some tough times, always with a smile on her face and Andrew by her side. Her ability to walk through the valley of death was based on the hope and promise of heaven through Jesus. The recent cruise was the second last thing on her bucket list, and the last thing on her list was heaven. Although we want her here, she is with Jesus. Eternal rest grant unto her O Lord, and let perpetual light shine on her. May she rest in peace.

Karen was such a bright light, her smile and laughter was infectious. She was caring and loving. If she saw you alone across a room she would make you feel welcome. She will be dearly missed by so many she touched. An Angel on earth. Be kind to one another. RIP Karen

I met Karen at a summer drama camp, run by Art Fidler, when I was in 10th grade. Although we attended different high schools, we became fast friends and remained in contact for 40 years. I will always remember how blown away I was by her beautiful singing voice during that camp. She had a well-deserved solo in our final production. When I left to work onboard Royal Caribbean ships in my 20's, Karen made some beautiful pillow cases for me because she wanted me to sleep on nice, soft pillow cases rather than the standard ship pillow slips. She was so thoughtful. To this day, I still have and use those beautifully soft pillow slips that she gifted to me. Whenever I lay down to sleep, I think of her and her kindness. In a way, she will always be with me. I will miss you dearly my friend. I hope you are singing with the angels now.

It isn’t fair. It’s not fair that there are people out there who didn’t know Karen, or have her touch their lives in some way. I consider myself one of the lucky ones who’s world was a little brighter because by some chance, some stroke of divine luck, I was fortunate enough to have had Karen in my life, even just for a short time. It’s been years since we last spoke, life gets busy that way, and I was surprised and deeply saddened to learn of Karen’s passing. My memories of Karen are her infectious smile, positive attitude and her ability to be present. She was a “One of a Kind” spirit who in her time here, was a blessing to anyone who knew her. I moved to London when I was 16 and it was a really difficult time in my life. I moved from a small town in Alberta to what I considered the “Big City” of London, Ontario. My brother West and I attended Clarke Road High School, and somehow, we fell into a circle of friends that by some stroke of luck included Karen. Landing a part in the high school musical of “Grease” was a game changer and turned things around for me in a really positive and memorable way I’ll never forget. Karen, and our group of “theatre” friends, was a HUGE part of the positive experience that high school ended up being for me. I’m so happy to hear that Karen continued in her love of community theatre. I just want Karen’s family to know how much of an impact she had on me but I’m sure they know that experience first hand by a million times. So life isn’t always fair. But it was more than fair, in fact a stroke of divine luck for those of us who ended up having Karen in our lives. Those of you who know, just know. So now Karen will join her son Nicholas, Sister Tara and all who wait for her on the other side. My deepest condolences to her husband Andrew, her surviving children, Austin and Melissa, family and friends. I know that this must be an incredibly hard time for all of you. While I’m not in a position where I can attend the funeral, I’ll watch the livestream and I look forward to hearing those closest to her celebrate Karen’s life. Sincerely, Les McDonald. A.K.A. Teen Angel and Johnny Casino.
