Kathleen Smith
February 18, 2016
Peacefully, on Thursday, February 18, 2016, in her 86th year. Dearly cherished wife, friend, and companion of George. Loving mother of Shawn (Sheila), Mike (Sheri), and Danny (Lori). Loving Nanny of Hailey, Sydney, Liam, Connor, and Tyler. Dear sister and cousin of Archie, Fred, Pearl, Lil, Betty, and Dorothy. Predeceased by her adopted parents, Ralph and Pearl Ferris. Kay was born and raised in London, Ontario. She met her beloved husband, George, while working at Wolseley Barracks, in London, where George was stationed. For George, it was truly love at first sight. The first time he saw Kay, a couple of other would-be suitors were trying to get her attention. George walked up and told them to leave her alone – as they were speaking to his future wife. For Kay, she didn’t know what to think of this handsome young soldier, she needed a bit more convincing, however, she quickly fell in love – a love that endured 56 years, three sons; five grandchildren; and a lifetime of a warm and loving family home. Kay leaves behind a family that will miss and cherish her always. Visitation will be held on Monday from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00 p.m. at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, where the funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Kay are asked to consider the Alzheimer Society or the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
