Kelly MacKenzie

November 8, 2017

Nov. 19, 1961 – Nov. 8, 2017

After a long and inspirational battle with cancer, Kelly passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family. Daughter of Germaine and the late Hugh Wilson. Beloved wife and best friend of David. Mother of Robyn (Tomas) and Kailey. Sister to Glen, Tom (Cheri), and Jim (Isabelle). Kelly graduated from the University of Western Ontario with a BA (honours) in English. She then went on to graduate from Althouse College, and taught for 28 years. Teaching and coaching basketball were her passion and, through both, she influenced a great number of young people. Kelly loved to travel, going on bike trips in France, and most recently hiking in the Italian Alps. She took great pleasure in golfing with the all of the girls at the Hunt Club, cheering on the Maple Leafs, and snuggling with her dogs. The family would like to thank all of their friends for their tireless support. In particular, they would like to thank the incredible nurses, doctors and support workers who walked beside them every step of the journey. Visitation will be held at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, on Sunday from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. George Parish, 1164 Commissioners Road West, London on Monday, November 13, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. Private interment at St. Peter’s Cemetery. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Kelly are asked to consider the London Regional Cancer Program.

I am an old high school friend of Kelly's and was also at Western with Kelly. I am so sorry to hear about her struggle and her passing. My heart goes out to her family. She was incredibly accomplished and that started in high school...she seemed to win at everything! I have a great photo of Kelly, our friend Diane and I on a school dress up day that I will dig up and try and forward to you. It shows how much fun we had back in those days. I have some very fond memories of Kelly that I will hold onto dearly. I can only imagine how difficult this loss is for you (her family)....my heart is with you. Karen Skuce

I met Kelly on our first day at Western. We lived across the hall from each other at Delaware and later, lived together in second and third years. Throughout those years, we had a ton of fun. I was honoured to be one of her bridesmaids when Dave and Kelly were married on Reading Week in 1984. Kelly was always a bright light. She excelled at everything she did. Her sense of humour and dry wit enlightened any conversation. She was a dear friend. She loved Dave deeply -- her 'rock' throughout her challenging cancer journey. They were indeed soul mates. She was so proud of Robyn and Kailey. Kelly will continue to live on in our hearts and minds and through our cherished memories of her. With heartfelt and deepest condolences at this very sad time. Dave, Robyn and Kailey you are in our prayers. God Bless You.

As a parish rep to St. Theresa school and a parishioner of St. George, I offer my sincerest sympathies to your family. What a lovely example of God's love! I think I am not the only one who was touched by Kelly's zest for life and love for God and family. It was very evident to me when she read at the masses, how devout she was. . There is a beautiful angel up in heaven and she is surrounded by pure love. May you find peace and comfort at this sad time.
