Ken A. Edward

Born August 30, 1932, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family at his home in London, Ontario, on Saturday, April 28th, 2012, after suffering from a terminal illness.  Much loved husband of Mary Ann (née Pennington) for 57 years.  Devoted father to:  Cheryl McIsaac, her husband Mark, and her children Jennifer, Lindsay and Ashley; Julie White and her children Matthew and Michelle; and Jennifer Smith, her husband Barry and their children Cole and Calvin.  Ken is survived by his brother Allan, of Parry Sound, nephew David Edward, of London, and niece Kate Cleland, of Ottawa.  Ken enjoyed a long career with the Middlesex County School Board where he began teaching in 1963, later becoming Vice-Principal and then Principal at North Middlesex District High School.  Ken finished his career at Strathroy District Collegiate Institute, as Principal, and retired in 1995.  Ken was a caring, compassionate father and grandfather.  He left his family with a legacy of love for one another with many cherished memories.  Thank you to the numerous doctors, nurses and medical staff of the London Regional Cancer Centre, especially Dr. Mark Vincent and Connie Morrison, and University Hospital for their excellent care of Ken during his many hospitalizations and treatments, as well as Ken’s family physician Dr. Eric Nichols.  Finally, our sincere thanks to the support provided by the London Region CCAC, especially our palliative nurses Pauline, P.J., Jane and our palliative doctor Sonia Malone for their truly outstanding care and support during this difficult time.  Family and friends will be received at the WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North on Wednesday, May 2nd, 2012 from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m.  A private celebration of Ken’s life will follow at a later date.
