Kenneth George Vowles
April 25, 2025
Peacefully, with his family by his side, Ken passed away on Friday, April 25, 2025 at Victoria Hospital in London, at the age of 86. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Jean in 2013.
Ken was a loving father to Kenny Jr. (Nancy) and Dennis (Terrie), and a devoted stepfather to Jean’s children: Ken (Sue), Bonnie (David), Kim (Colin), and Chris (Kathryn).
He was a cherished grandfather to Dalton (Cassie), Garrett (Whitney), Scott (Traci), Zachary, Carly, Kelly (Ewen), Lee (Diana), Kassie, Nate, and Alex. He was also a proud great-grandfather to Avery, Ava, Brooklyn, Cam, Montana, Tennessee, Arizona, Indiana, Lyle, Vayda, Nolan, Kennedy, and Kimmie.
Ken was the eldest of 5 siblings. Irene, Eunice( Ron), Phyllis, (Hunter) , Ron (Roxanne). Ken was predeceased by his parents, Tom (1961) and Mildred (2014).
He enjoyed a 28-year career at the London Psychiatric Hospital, where he built lasting friendships. Ken was also a founding member of a men’s dart team, which later became part of the London District Men’s Dart League in the 1970s. He continued to play darts until his health no longer allowed it.
In addition to darts, Ken had a passion for golf. One of his most memorable moments was a trip to Ohio, where he spent an afternoon golfing with his grandsons, while his sons followed behind in carts to share in the experience. Ken often played early morning rounds of golf, returning home afterward to care for Jean, who was in poor health. He would then head out for darts in the evening, maintaining a routine that reflected both his dedication and love for his family.
Ken also enjoyed playing cribbage and was always eager to challenge others to a game, where his skill and enthusiasm shone through. He had a lifelong love of fishing, frequently travelling to Kipawa in the 1960s, and later enjoying local fishing trips when travelling was no longer an option.
Above all, Ken and Jean shared a deep love for Elvis Presley. They took multiple trips to Graceland, collected memorabilia, and proudly displayed their passion with Elvis-themed license plates and car stickers.
Ken was a dedicated sports fan, supporting the London Knights, the Toronto Maple Leafs, and the Toronto Blue Jays. For his 75th birthday, he celebrated with a special trip to a Blue Jays game alongside Kenny Jr., Ken, Chris, and Nate.
