Larry Lyons

June 12, 1950 - June 29, 2023

Larry – “I do not want to be mourned but remembered for the good times. I never really could stand a desk job but managed to live a life of tinkering, creating, and a little adventure. My two greatest accomplishments in life were my kids and going on the motorhome trip with them. If we all just lived by the golden rule – do unto others as you would have them do unto you – the world would be a better place.”

Larry wanted a unique obit with quotes from his daughter, Chloe Lyons, and long-time partner, Noreen Davis –

Noreen – “The golden rule was Larry, he was the most honest, genuine person I have met. I have so much gratitude for the time we had together and the memories of those times.  Our travels, concerts, conversations, fun times and tough times will always be with me.”

Chloe – “Dad was a force. As we planned his memorial and obit together, he joked that he has always been unemployable but it turned out to be a blessing. He taught me so much but most importantly, how to live a life that was authentic and true to me. He was the life of the party and my biggest cheerleader. He shared my love for old Disney and one of his favorite characters was Jiminy Cricket, so in his honour…“always let your conscience be your guide.”

Predeceased by his son Frazer Lyons (2010), Larry passed peacefully at home after a short illness with his family by his side, his daughter Chloe Lyons, son-in-law Michael Brown, and best friend and longtime partner, Noreen Davis.

Larry was born in London and was a lifetime resident. He was very proud to have brought Apple computers to London through his retail business, Lyons Logic. Larry was an avid golfer, techie, e-bike builder, jazz enthusiast, curious with a love of learning, always ready to have fun and enjoyed life to the fullest. He was honest, genuine and cheerful. Larry spent over 10 winters in Florida, making many new friends and playing pickleball. He will be missed by his golf buddies, Mews neighbours, Florida pals, family and everyone who knew him.

Thank you to all who provided care and support in Larry’s final weeks – specifically, Dr. Dieter Bruckschwaiger, LHSC – London Regional Cancer Program and Community Care.

A memorial service will be held at the London Hunt & Country Club on Monday, July 10, 2023, from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. A toast in his honour will be shared at 4:00 p.m. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Larry are asked to consider The Salvation Army or LHSF – Cancer Program.

My best memories of Larry are circa 1967 or so. Nobody had a license then because we were younger than Larry but all hung out together ( Centralites of the “Golden Ghosts “ ). He was more than happy to cram his new Cougar with as many people as possible and head out to Oakridge Arena for some great bands and a dance. I was their paperboy from around twelve years old and basically knew the family. My heartfelt condolences to the family and those memories are etched in my mind forever. Rest In Peace my friend and thank you for those excellent times.

So saddened by Larry’s passing, much too soon my friend. I shall remember your infectious inquisitiveness, your ease with conversation and wonderful sense of fun. From back in the days of Askin St., your Grand Bend cottage and beyond… wonderful memories. I already miss our phone calls, hearing about your latest projects and adventures, and your kind interest in what I was up to. Rest in peace Larry. My sincere condolences to Chloe, Michael and Noreen.

I am so very sorry to read this news. Larry was always friendly and happy to chat and catch up after a round of golf. My late Father knew his Dad well and we would usually chat about our Families and how everyone was doing. I will miss those chats. Please accept my most sincere condolences…

The first time I heard the word ,”Pickleball,” it came out of Larry’s mouth. Everything he spoke about was born of curiosity and enthusiasm. He specifically loved talking about eyes and lenses with me! I joined the Hunt Club 23 years ago, and always saw Larry surrounded by friends and laughing. My condolences to his family. Rick Bains

The pleasure of your company is already missed. As Noreen's sister I got to know Larry at several festive occasions and everyday ones too. A one of a kind person our world needs more of. My heart and prayers are with you Chloe and Mike.
