Leo Michael Hickey

Uncle Leo without a doubt was my favourite uncle. His visits were always looked forward to especially when we were kids, He would always show up with something for everyone and he brought a measure of mischief with him. He lived a life in service to others through his Ordination and later in the Ontario ministry community and social services. He was a great conversationalist with quick wit and definitely an opinion. I'll miss our talks.

Extending my sincere condolences to Randy and all of Leo's family. I worked with Leo when I first started with the Ministry of Community and Social Services in London in 1982. I will always remember his smile, his laugh, his charm, his wit and the sparkle in his eye. Leo and I reconnected 3 years ago when my mom moved into the retirement apartment almost right across the hall from him. I am so happy that we had a chance to reminisce about the good old days, and were able to share some real laughs over some pictures that I took to show him from our Ministry photo albums. Rest in peace Leo. You will be missed.

Dear Hickey family;On behalf of my mom and I we deeply express our sincerest heartfelt sympathies to a truly outstanding citizen and humanitarian of our community of London,Ontario and beyond its borders whever your dads travels took and his family members to during his lifetime.we fondly remember the Ottawa Valley Club during its brief exuistence way back when as my dad Jack come from Smiths Falls,Ontario where many of his family members still reside to this day,and my mom comes from Perth,Ontario,where I was born June 27,1953 ,at Gwmh hospital with Cerebrakl Palsy,back in those days,and am classified as a spastic Quadraplegic ,having steel braces on my legs the first 14 years of my life getting rid of them for good in November 1967,after extensive surgery at Victoria Hospital ,here in London,Ontario to live free as a bird and enjoy the world and its true offerimgs.I am also am very thankful to be able to help your dad as a altheimers client at Parkwood Hospital under Dr,Mike Borrie,as a nain desk volunteer at the hospital the past 32 years and 3 months,What a true blessing that was for me to help mankind for sure.May God lead you and your family members to brighter days ahead always in your various chosen careers and lives per se from this point forward as you move one and all toward the future,Yours Sincerely Brian and Mary cross,London,Ontario.

Thank you one and all for your kind words and condolences. My family appreciates everything you have said above . He is in a better place now, no more pain and no more ambulances to the hospital 2 or 3 times a week. I took care of him as requested by my mother Dorothy Grace Hickey(Tyrrell). I was with my mom for the last ten days of her life staying, no living at the hospital on a cot, Leo would come in each day to say hello even though my mom was in a coma. He last words to me was to make sure I took care of Leo just like I took care of her, she passed away while I was holding her hand. I did not have the privilege of being at the hospital when Leo passed, a call from the hospital informed me that he had passed peacefully. I am grateful for that and the amazing attention the nurses and Dr's had for him each time he had to go there to be tended. Thanks again for all your kind words Randy and Judy Tyrrell
