"An honest man here lies at rest, As e'er God with His image blest: The friend of man, the friend of truth, The friend of age, and guide of youth: Few hearts like his - with virtue warm'd, Few heads with knowledge so inform'd: If there's another world, he lives in bliss; If there is none, he made the best of this." - Robert Burns (from: ON WM. MUIR IN TARBOLTON MILL)

"It is no use lamenting the broken vessel, when all the forces of the universe have gathered to him to fall from our hands." (HUXLEY)

Dear Elizabeth and Peter, Bill and I were friends of your parents for many years through Guildwood Presbyterian Church. Bill was a elder at the same time as Les and we enjoyed many church functions together. I am still using your Mother's sour dough biscuit recipe, a favourite of the Grandkids, and I think of your parents everytime I make them. With deepest sympathy, Gwen and Bill

Jessica

Dear Elizabeth, I am very sorry to hear of our long-time friend, Les. I send my love and sympathy to you and Peter and your families. Lucie Simons

Roger and I would like you to know that we share in your sorrow at this time. We were friends of Les and Mildred when we lived in Guildwood and attended the Presbyterian Church there. We have kept in touch over the years with emails and at Christmas. Your Dad was so proud of you all, and kept us aware of your latest accomplishments. We know he will be missed by you all.

~ Roger and Jane Brown

We send our condolences for the loss of your father. We met him at Erin's graduation dinner (when the power went out at Jeremy). He was very friendly and kind to us. I know that he was a proud father and grandfather. I also remember when he visited you and wore his Queens hat that said "class of 48 and 1/2". It is very special that he had a wonderful 94 years to share with all of you. Love, Susan, Shirley and Lloyd Paley

The great strength of your family lies in being a family. Your father never lacked for love nor support and in the best way one could hope, left this world knowing he was eternally loved. May your memories of him be a comfort always.
