Libuše Šnepp

10. 1. 1935 – 09. 24. 2021
An eternal optimist who brought light and laughter to all, Libuše (“Li”) left the Earth surrounded by loved ones after a long illness. She was a beloved friend; a mother; a daughter; wife of Luděk Šnepp; and sister to Marie and Drahosláva. Libuše survived the Nazi occupation of her childhood home in Klikařov, Czechoslovakia. Following the Soviet invasion of 1968, she escaped with her daughter to a refugee camp in Germany before landing in Canada. A skilled editor, teacher, and poet, she spoke five languages and worked as a librarian at the University of Western Ontario for many years. Upon retiring, she continued travelling, camping, loving nature, writing poetry, gardening and feeding grapes to the robins. Libuše was a generous, mischievous, and courageous adventurer and intellectual, and her absence diminishes this world. We really miss Li's bright smile and her little feline companion in our neighbourhood. Many neighbours over many years have enjoyed chats with Li about gardening and the wonderful wildlife that surrounds us. Please know we are thinking of Li's family and all who loved her. Deepest sympathy from the neighbours and our neighbourhood association.
