Lillian M., RN Ewener (Bilyea)

February 9, 2012

Peacefully, at her residence, on Thursday, February 9, 2012. Beloved wife of the late Dr. Bill Ewener (2001). Mourned and missed by her daughter Betsy, son-in-law Rick Odegaard and their children James and Katie, by her grandsons Andrew and Alex Ewener, by her son Jeffery, daughter-in-law Avia Sang and their daughters Isobel and Dominic and by her sisters Lois White and Jean Shannon. Predeceased by her son Brian (2007), her daughter-in-law Gienny Proszek (2002) and her sister Berniece Parker (2011). We thank the staff and her friends at Peoplecare Oakcrossing for their care and kind attention over the last 18 months. Mom lived for 95 years with patience, strength and grace. She mothered us with intelligence and good humour, and she shared with us her love of books. We will celebrate her life at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, on Monday, February 20th at 11:00 a.m., with visitation one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the London Public Library, to Victoria Hospital Auxiliary or by passing on a kindness in any direction.

To the Ewener Family: As childen, our mother Ruth (Follick) Dunsford often told us of the many kindnesses shown to our family by both of your parents. As you may know, Mom trained at Vic with Lillian - now many decades ago. I had the pleasure of speaking with Betsy at the time of your brother's death and my sister Kathryn had a recent visit with her at Wildwood. On behalf of Mother and my sisters Kathryn, Jean, and Lucinda, I send deepest condolences. Susan Dunsford McKay

95 is some achievement as are all that she produced and nurtured. Well done Lillian and our condolences to all.

Betsy and Jeff, I was saddened to recently hear of the passing of your mother last year. Although we had not seen each other for at least 45 years, the memories I have of both Lillian and Bill have stayed with me and influenced my life all these years. Your mother was such a great example of class and wisdom, and your father showed me kindness, patience and humour (Life lesson learned: don’t date the daughter of your physician). My deepest belated sympathy to you both and your families for your loss.
