August 17, 2017
Peacefully, at McGarrell Place Long Term Care Home on Thursday, August 17, 2017. Loving wife and partner of Howard for 66 years, loving mother of Susan, David, Elizabeth and Dennis. Favourite aunt of many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her brothers Sonny, Michael, Larry, Arthur and Dennis; sisters-in-law Ruth and Theresa; and parents Cecil and Emily. Always a port in any storm for family and extended family, friends or any animal that needed a home. Best known for her shortbread cookies at Christmas, and her roast beef and Yorkshire pudding at any time. Lois is probably already playing the slots, bingo, or beating her brothers at crib or euchre. Terrific sense of humour and wit to the end, she was cherished, and will be missed by all who knew her. A special thank you to the staff at McGarrell Place for the care and the kindness shown to her. As per Lois’ and the family’s wishes there will be no visitation or funeral service. However, a Celebration of Life will be held at 8-578 McGarrell Place, London, on Saturday, September 9, 2017 from 2:00-5:00 p.m. Please drop in and share your stories with Howard, and raise a toast to Lois. In lieu of flowers, please consider giving a rescue animal a home or donating to a rescue shelter/organization in her name. And, as always, drop a quarter in any slot machine you see.

My Mother will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing and loving her. A kind and spirited woman who tended to her home, husband, family and pets with love and dedication through all her days. She loved nature and the simple things in life. She had a fun and competitive spirit so she loved to play cards, bowling, shuffleboard, bingo, badminton and ping pong. She had a love for collecting elephants, Jade and Royal Daultons. I will always think of my Mom whenever I see a finch, hear a chickadee sing or feel the warmth of the sun. The warmth of her love, her kindness and smile, will carry on within our memories and hearts forever. A beautiful individual who's love for us will never be forgotten and could never be replaced. She led a long, happy, love filled life. The happiness and humor she shared with us all shall never fade and will lift our heavy spirits during this sorrowful time.

Dear Liz and Family, We are thinking of you and hoping you are doing okay. We know how lovingly you cared for your Mom, as her health deteriorated. We remember meeting her at the party you hosted for Maura and she was so vibrant, funny and caring. We're sending hugs to you Liz and hope to connect before too long. Take care. xo Paula and Jeffrey
