Marguerite Yvette Parent

February 23, 1948 – August 10, 2016

If you are reading this today, you know that I’ve finally joined my twin brother, Marcel Francois Albert.  I’m also with my late parents: Jeannette Dubois (1986) and Russell Parent (2001), my brother/godfather, Elmer (1995), Roland’s twin brother, Raymond (1946) and my sister and brother-in-law Genny and Harry Wikston. I’m sorry to leave behind my sister/godmother Gloria (Bob) Young of Parry Sound;  my sister Connie Cockle of London; my brothers Leon of Winnipeg, MB; Robert (Therese) of Welland; Bill (Doreen) of Barrie and Roland of Harty, ON; my sister-in-law Ruth Parent of Shelburne and my goddaughter Susanne Parent-Pulak of Winnipeg, MB. I take pride in telling everyone about my numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews: especially Laurie (Tanya) Cockle, Craig, Zack and Jake Cockle, all of London.  Born and raised in Timmins on February 23, 1948.  I graduated as an R.N.A. from Misericordia Hospital in Haileybury, ON in 1968.  I came directly to London to start my nursing career.  I retired from St. Joseph’s Hospital after more than 35 years service and have recommended retirement ever since.   To all my very good friends: Thank You.  To those who really know me, you’ll appreciate me asking you to plant a tree for me at your home or cottage.  A memorial service will be conducted at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, on Monday, August 15th, 2016 at 11:00 a.m.  Those wishing to make a donation are asked to consider the Brain Tumor Foundation, Lawson Diabetes Education Centre, Heart and Stroke Foundation or the London Regional Cancer Program.

On behalf of the Parent Family, we wish to thank all of you for your thoughtful words and support during this difficult time for Maggie.

It has been hard on family and friends to see her decline these past months.

May she now rest in peace.

Again, our sincere thanks to one and all.

Your picture tells the story of who you were. Always cheerful & caring and a joy to be around. I will miss you so much, my dear friend, but you deserve a glorious reward for the person you were. Love forever, Jan.

This photo captures Marguerite's heartwarming smile and the sparkle in her eyes that I remember so well, even after all these years. I too had the great pleasure of working alongside her at St. Joseph's Hospital. Her obituary notice was classic Marguerite. The world has lost a beautiful soul - she will be dearly missed. I sent my heartfelt condolences to her family and friends.

Marg thanks for those lovely memories .Rest in peace sweet lady .

Maggie as I knew her was always smiling and laughing and kept things lively in the pool at St Joseph's where I met her and we soon be came friends. It wasn't very hard to like Maggie as she was always laughing. I will remember her for ever and think of her often.

Maggie I will always remember your laughter and your smile. You truly had a big heart! I will never forget how much you loved my dogs and bought them treats. You were there for me most of the time when I lost my husband Brian and my sister Terry. Living down the hallway from you for years I saw you often. I missed that when you moved. I've missed your card games that went on till midnight and I'd hear them and you, all the way down the hallway. I'll never get that phone call again saying "Come over in 20 minutes I just ordered Swiss Chalet!" There were a couple of Christmas's that I helped you prepare horderves to bring over to Connie's. You were a fantastic cook! It's no wonder, whenever I came over you had the Food Network on! Maggie you should of been a Chef, you loved to cook! Your kitchen was well equipped! Always the hostess you'd offer whatever you had, and then say you know where the fridge is! Our long telephone conversations that seemed to go on for hours I'll miss. Even though we just lived down the hallway! LOL... We did have a lot of good talks I'll miss. Maggie you loved to shop too. I'd see the twinkle in your eyes when you'd show me something new that you loved! Maggie you dressed well too.....always tried to look your best. I'll miss you Maggie! May you rest in peace...I hope to see you on the other side. So many memories I will never forget....you were a wonderful person...
