Surrounded by family, Matilda Caroline Simler was called home on Friday, May 12th, 2023, at the age of 90.

Matilda was welcomed into Heaven to be reunited with her loving husband of 64 years, Walter (2020); her daughter Marisa Pyatt (2003); and her son Pierre Simler (2005). Matilda will be greatly missed by all, especially, her daughter Isabelle Simler. She was a loving mother-in-law to Louise Simler and Curtis Pyatt. Matilda was born and raised with her siblings in Hamrun, Malta. After marrying Walter in 1956, and having three beautiful children, the loving couple immigrated to Canada in 1965. Matilda was a fun-spirited soul, who had many passions. With her incredible artistic talent, she designed and sewed all of her family’s clothes, decorated their home with her paper-toll, and nurtured her beautiful garden. Matilda and Walter were avid travellers who explored many places including, Australia, Italy, Greece, Mexico, Portugal, Cuba, Germany, Austria and more. One of her most treasured places was Hawaii where the couple would vacation annually. Matilda will be remembered for her confidence, sense of humour and her ability to brighten any room she entered.

Matilda was a beautiful person inside and out who cared so deeply for the people around her. She was a faithful woman who loved the Lord, her family, and her friends. She will be deeply missed by her family who are honoured to have had her as their matriarch.

Isabelle and family. I am so very sorry to hear of your mom's passing. I have such great memories of her. She always welcomed me into your family home's. She kept in touch with me after Marisa's passing which meant so much to me. She was a woman of great faith and it was tested throughout her life. She is now at peace with Walter, Pierre and Marisa.
