DANIS, Maurice Jules – Peacefully on June 17th, 2011, in London, Ontario, Maurice Jules Danis, in his 83rd year, of London and formerly of Sarnia. Born in Kortemark West Vlaandren, Belgium. Survived by his wife Paula, and his two daughters Doreen, of Lambeth and Darlene of Oakville. Pepe to his much loved grandkids Daniel and Diana and their father Joe. Brother of Omer, of Belmont, and Arseen, Frans, Firmin, Marcel and Godelieve, all of Belgium. Predeceased by his brothers Jozef and Andre. Farming was Maurice’s passion for many years in Camlachie and Langton. The memorial service will be conducted at the WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, on Wednesday, June 22nd, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation one hour prior to the service. Private family interment at St. Peter’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Canada would be appreciated.

Thinking of you Darc, Paula, Doreen, Daniel and Diana, I remember fondly my time spent with Maurice, Paula and Darc one March Break in Fort Myers. We had a great time laughing and sharing stories. You all made me feel a part of your family. Maurice kindly gave me wise words of advice on gardening. We are so fortunate to have precious memories to give us strength and bring us peace. Darc: I know that your father and you were very close. It was one of the relationships that I envied as my own relationship with my father was not a good one. Paula, We are so sorry to hear that Maurice has passed. We were neighbours for so many years in Sarnia and loved to chat with you both. Maurice was always full of great stories of Belgium and then farming in Canada. His garden was kept so beautifully and still is today. Best wishes to you and your family.
Sorry to hear of your loss. It's been a very long time since you all lived in Camlachie. My father (Eric) passed last October 2010, & my mom (Shirley) passed in February 2007,it's very hard to get use to them not being there. My thoughts are with you at this time. Take Care!

Mr. Danis was a man filled with a passion for doing the right thing the right way. He was strong willed and had an opinion. His love of his family and his assurance that they were all well taken care of was admirable. So sorry to hear of his passing. Thinking of you all. xo xo

Dear Paula and girls. My sympathy is with you. There are many changes since you have moved from Sarnia and Camlachie. I am living in an apartment in Petrolia. Apartments are not like having your own home but we must accept many changes as we grow older. I will be thinking of you as you go through the next few days. Aan Maurice zullen we steeds mooie herinneringen bewaren aan de vele gesprekken die we samen hadden,en het soijt ons zeer deze contacten te moeten verliezen.Maurice was wel een harde strijder tegenzijn ziekte,maar helaas,het heeft niet mogen baten. Thanks Mr Danis for your large personality and the many good times and laughter shared with you and your family... I welcomed all your tips on how to make the grass greener and what trees to plant in the backyard and a myriad of other valuable pieces of information I learned from you....a very intelligent and feisty man you were and I will miss that sparkle in your steely blue eyes. We bewaren vele mooie herinneringen aan onze bezoeken, aan deze levendige en ondernemende man, zeer trots op zijn familie en op wat hij in Canada bewerkstelligd had. Jullie mogen trots en dankbaar zijn op wat hij samen met u al die voorbije jaren opgebouwd heeft. HIj is iemand die zeker en vast in vele verhalen zal blijven voortleven. We wensen je vooral veel sterkte tante Paula!

Beste Paula en familie met spijt moet ik vernemen het overlijden van Maurice Danis, Innige Deelneming van Liessens Marc en mijn zuster Rosa en haar man Noel. Als Maurice enkele jaren geleden naar Belgie gekomen is heeft hij nog bij mij langs gekomen en met mijn schoonbroer naar de oude tractoren gaan kijken. We hebben ook veel met elkander gesproken via de computer. Paula en Familie veel sterkte in het verdere leven
Maurice Danis was my Uncle. As a teenager, just migrated over from Belgium, Maurice was nice enough to help me out with work on the Farm. Besides providing me with some spending money it also provided me with lots of great farming and farming equipment knowledge. For that alone I will forever appreciate him. Yes he was a stern, strong willend and fiesty task master, and an opinionated Uncle, but I know that he was a good man at heart and I am certain his presence will be missed. I know he was in a lot of pain the last couple of years so I am glad he now finally has eternal rest and peace. My sincerest condolences to Aunt Paula and cousins Darlene and Doreen; I hope the knowledge of his full life will sustain you through your grief; please do not hestitate to call on us if there is anything me or my family can do. Thanks Darc, for sharing some of the stories of your dad with me from our days at St. Jo's. He always appeared larger than life... a strong & vital presence and very interested in all of his family. I enjoyed hearing about how he conquered the computer to write emails to you while travelling, and figured out how to make the transition from rural to urban life.
