Maurice ‘Morris Durnez

After a long battle with cancer, Maurice passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, April 20, 2021. Morris will be deeply missed by his wife of 50 years, Ann. Predeceased by his mother, Mona (2001); father, Roger (2012); and brother, John (2013). Loving father of Cheryl Onufer (Dennis), of Watford, Ontario and Adam (Sandra), of Corunna, Ontario. Devoted grandfather to Owen and Mona Durnez, and Dana and Jayden Onufer. Survived by his sister, Dina Skinner, of Port Dover; sister, Andrea Pelletier (Edgar), of St. Thomas; brother, Danny Durnez (Cathy), of London; and brother-in-law, Butch Bodway, of Niagara Falls, NY. Also, deeply missed by many nieces and nephews. Morris was a long-term employee of Copp’s Buildall. He had a love of woodworking and enjoyed the yearly fishing trip with his family. Morris loved being with his family and especially family gatherings. A private Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Family Parish, 777 Valetta Street, London on Friday, April 23, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. Private interment at Oakland Cemetery. The family welcomes friends to view the service remotely via livestream.

My grandfather was one of the kindest humans to walk this earth. He spread joy and care to everyone who entered his home. I feel like there are too many words to be said to truly tell you how amazing this man was. No matter your faults, or imperfections he would love you for the person you are. To the man my Father always looked up to, and the grandpa of a lifetime, you are truly missed. To my extended family, my thoughts and prayers are with you all. I know this is a difficult time for all of us. And to my brother, the oldest of my grandfathers grandkids you make him proud everyday. We'll continue to grow his legacy and make him the proudest grandpa ever together. May your beautiful soul rest forever in peace.

To my dear sweet and and all of your children, this is Linda Hillman. I stood up for your wedding many years ago and I remember your mom made our bridesmaids dresses. It was the most beautiful dress. I kept it until about three years ago. I remember going to the farm where in London Ontario For a pig roast it was the best weekend I had in a long time. I miss you and regret not keeping in touch over all these years. I hope you’re doing well.
