May Louise (née Smith) Parkinson

August 17, 2020

Peacefully at St. Joseph’s Hospice with her family by her side, May Parkinson passed away on Monday, August 17, 2020 in her 92nd year. Loving wife of the late Robert (Bob) Parkinson. Devoted mother of Bonnie May (Keith) Lynes, Catherine Marie (Gary) Connolly and Michael Robert Parkinson. Very proud grandma of Philip (Amanda) Connolly, Jessie (Daryl) Kingma, Chris Lynes, Alex (Chelsea) Parkinson and Haley O’Hagan. Special great-grandma of Rylin May Connolly and Gavin Joseph Parkinson.

After May graduated from the University of Western Ontario at the age of 19, her varied career included a proofreader and linotype operator at the London Free Press, an Avon representative, and a member of the Ontario Board of Parole. Her passion for and commitment to education led her from the Home and School Association to more than 20 years as a trustee on the London Board of Education. She was also a lifetime member of the Rotary Club.

A private family funeral service was conducted at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London. Interment at Woodland Cemetery. Because of social distancing, please raise a glass in May’s memory. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of May are asked to consider St. Joseph’s Hospice, the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of their choice.
