Slipped away peacefully, with her family by her side, at the age of 81, on Sunday, May 7th, 2017. Devoted mother of Heather Rawlings (David), Maureen Taylor, John Hooff (Jocelyn King) and Arthur Hooff. Cherished Grandmother of Tammy Reath-Groulx, Michael Rawlings, Laura Stevenson (Greg) and Zachary Costa. Merelene was “Grandma the Great” to Jennifer, Jordan and Juliana Groulx. Merelene joined the London Symphony Orchestra, in 1951, at the age of 15, subsequently also becoming a member of the Sweet Adelines. Always taking pride in looking her best, Merelene was also an avid gardener with a green thumb, and was a proud, passionate and excellent Bridge player. Many thanks to all of the caregivers for their support and excellent care. Interment will take place at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, 303 Riverside Drive, London on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. The memorial service will be conducted at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, on Saturday, May 13th, 2017 at 11:00 a.m., with visitation one hour prior. Those wishing to make a donation in Merelene’s memory are asked to consider the LHSC – UH Palliative Care Unit, the LHSC – Cancer Program or The Salvation Army.
