Michael “Mick” Beattie

April 29, 2025

Passed peacefully at LHSC – Victoria Hospital on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at the age of 77.  Beloved husband of Doreen for 54 years. He was a wonderful Dad to Michelle (Tom), Mark (Heather), and Ryan (Jade). He was the loving and proud Grandad of Christine, Andrew, Jackson, and Charlotte. He will be missed by his brother Ken (Linda), and his cousins from the U.K. John (Suzanne) and Josie (Mick). He was predeceased by his parents Robert and Winifred Beattie.

Mick and Doreen, along with their daughter, immigrated from England in 1977. Mick’s career showcased him as a professional, dedicated business manager. He managed PTI for many years before Doreen and Mick became business owners of BT Executive Suites in London. Mick was a valued member of the London Chamber of Commerce, where he was recognized with the President’s Award for his many contributions to the organization, especially his committee involvement with the Membership Services Committee. He will be greatly missed and remembered by his many friends and business associates in the London Business Community.

The family wishes to thank all of the LHSC – Victoria Hospital doctors and staff for their compassionate and extensive care of Mick. Also, the family wishes to recognize and thank the team at the Princess Margaret Hospital.

A visitation will be held at Westview Funeral Home and Cremation Centre, 709 Wonderland Road North, London on Wednesday, May 7, 2025 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. A funeral service will be conducted at 6:00 p.m., followed by a reception.  In lieu of flowers, anyone wishing to make donations in Mick’s memory are asked to consider the Princess Margaret Hospital or the Verspeeten Family Cancer Centre (formerly London Regional Cancer Program).

Doreen, Mark, Michelle, Ryan and Family sending our thoughts to you all for the loss of Mick. Having known him when Sarah and I went to your family home after school in Whitehills. Our families have formed a life long friendship. Mick was always there to help my mum with any support, odd jobs and errands. During my annual visits to London I got to spend time with Mick forming a friendship and have valuable insightful discussions. He was always interested in my welfare and gave me lifelong advice that I will carry with me. Thank you Mick. A pure Gent and a gentle soul. Godspeed my friend.

Mick was a great guy, always happy to meet, and very helpful, knowing politics, finance, home repairs and many other topics. He was our wonderful neighbor for 11 years and friend for 25 years. We enjoyed having him visit us in Arizona and seeing the Grand Canyon, Sedona and 4 Peaks. And Mick was always ready to help out our family with lots of advice. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. And we enjoyed walking with him and Doreen and our dogs. We have so many happy memories of our times together.

Worked with Mick for years at Photochemical Research Associates and at Photon Technology International. Did a great job keeping production going over many, many years! RIP Mick

Mick truly liked to hear about what was going on in your life. Especially if you hadn’t seen him in a while. He’d interject with questions so, he got the full picture of what was happening. He was a great friend to everyone and especially his mate’s in his inner circle. RIP Mick!

We moved to Mick's street two doors down almost exactly 10 years ago this past month. Mick was one of our first neighbours to greet us and make us feel welcome. He always had a big smile and on our daily walks, we looked forward to meeting up and chatting with him. He would never hesitate to lend a hand when needed and we could always count on him to keep an eye on our home when we travelled. Mick was one of a kind and will be sorely missed.

Mick was the life of the party at the London Chamber of Commerce Business After Five Events for years, and he made sure you bought raffle tickets. We'll miss his upbeat spirit, his smile, and his genuine friendship. He was a terrific Granddad, often missing a monthly get-together because one of his grandkids was at hockey. Sometimes, he'd slip away from the hockey for just a moment to say hi and get right back to them.
