Millard Tilley

September 10, 2012

TILLEY, Millard – Lived life large! But left us too soon on Monday, September 10, 2012 in his 87th year.  Beloved husband for 62 years to Carmela, and devoted father to Linda (Dominic) and Michael (Deborah), all of whom could not have loved him more.  Loving papa to his grandchildren, Shana, Chris, Michael and Derek and his great-grandchildren Nathan and Mya.  Enjoyed for his sense of humour and admired for his strong will to live, Millard will be dearly missed.  Predeceased by siblings Mildred, Winona, Glenna, Lorraine, Otis and Warren.  Millard was born and raised in New Brunswick where he joined the navy, and then went on to attend Ryerson Institute in Toronto.  He moved back to New Brunswick and met Carmela, where they married and started a family.  A job opportunity with Sheridan Equipment brought him to London, Ontario in 1952.  Throughout the years Millard had been actively involved in the Optimist Club, served as a Cub Leader for 9 years and supported many local initiatives.  In 1971, Millard acquired the Parker Hannifin franchise, and Hose Headquarters Ltd. was started.  Hose Headquarters was and continues to be one of the successful small businesses that have thrived in London over the years mainly due to Millard’s commitment to good service and integrity.  Hose Headquarters continues on with his son Michael, wife Debbie, grandchildren Shana and Chris and all the dedicated staff and loyal customers.  Thank you from all of his family for all the well-wishes.  Millard has been an inspiration to all of us.  Family and friends will be received for visitation at the WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, on Thursday from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. A celebration of Millard’s life will take place at St. Michael and All Angels Church, 397 Springbank Drive, on Friday, September 14th, 2012 at 11:00 a.m.   In lieu of flowers, a donation to the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.  Special thanks to Helen Dadega at the London Health Sciences Centre for your compassion.

We were shocked and saddened to hear of Tilley's sudden death. Our friendship of over 60 years gives us many happy and pleasant memories. Cam, he was your loving husband and friend in so many ways. He loved and was proud of you, Mike and Linda. He was so proud of you, your spouses and your children and their children. We were there when you were born and he kept us informed on your progress through the years. We are remembering you Cam and your loving family in our prayers. May you have the strength and comfort needed during these difficult times. Bob and Alice, Moncton NB

To all of the Tilley family: Please accept our deepest sympathy on the loss of your husband, father and grandfather. I had the privilege of playing golf with Tilley over the last several years. He was always a positive, caring gentleman who spoke lovingly of his dear wife Camy and his other family members. We will miss him a lot. We will pray for you that the Lord will sustain you by His grace in your hour of loss. Respectfully, Marjorie and Duncan
