Mithilesh “Margaret” Chacko (née Hiradhar)
July 4, 2025
With heavy hearts, we announce that Mithilesh Margaret Chacko (née Hiradhar) passed away peacefully at the age of 80, surrounded by her loving family on the afternoon of July 4, 2025. Margaret is predeceased by her seven siblings. We take comfort knowing that she is at peace.
Margaret completed her B.A., M.A., and B.Ed. before marrying Thomas Chacko in May of 1968 in her hometown of Bilaspur, Madhya Pradesh, India. Margaret joined Thomas in Canada a year later, where she quickly adapted to her new life. Margaret made friends easily, especially at the Assessment Review Board, where she worked for nine years. When the family moved back to India in 1979, Margaret took on the role of school principal and improved the salaries and working conditions for the teachers at the school. When the family returned to Canada in 1985, Margaret took evening courses at Fanshawe College and qualified for a job in Health Records at University Hospital, where she worked for 22 years.
Those of you who know Margaret know that she was an excellent host and cook and no one left her home hungry. Margaret was a loving and devoted wife to Thomas and was his caregiver for the last five years of his life. She was an attentive and caring mother to Leo (Robin) and Liza (Andrew). It was in her role as Nani-Ma (grandmother) that Margaret found her greatest joy. Her granddaughters, Asha and Meera, know that she adored them and her love will live on in them.
Your presence is welcome on July 13, 2025 at Westview Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, where a service will take place at 11:00 a.m., with visitation an hour prior. We hope to see you there.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to The Kidney Foundation.

I was sorry to hear of Margaret’s passing please accept my sympathies I worked with Margaret at UH Health Records for many years she was always a pleasure to work with. Rest in Peace, you will be missed.
I met Margaret through my sister Heather. We both loved 🥰 her very much. Margaret kept me sane throughout my cancer diagnosis and recovery. She was a very generous person not only with her food, cakes and flowers, but with her time, advice, love and encouragement. I was very sad 😢 to hear of her passing. We had a special bond that can never be replaced. I take comfort knowing that I will see her again in heaven. I will continue to communicate with her until my eyes close for the last time. To her family, Margaret was a very special soul and now will be a beautiful guardian to all of us in heaven. She has not gone far. She’s just beyond the veil.
To Margaret's family: Please accept my sincere condolences on the passing of your mother and grand-mother. Margaret was a wonderful person, always considerate of others feelings and interested in their lives. I met her through my sister and visited with her often on my trips to London. During her visits there would always be a gift of food, some wonderful dish that she had prepared. Margaret was very soft spoken, yet communicated a depth of understanding and caring that was indicative of her intelligence and kind spirit. It is with much sadness that I hear of her passing. May your many wonderful memories of her sustain you through your grief. Dianne Baird
I worked with Margaret in Health Records at University Hospital. She was a kind, thoughtful woman. I visited her at her home on Sanatorium Road and we shared laughs about work. We lost touch over the years but I will always remember her as my friend. My sincerest condolences to you both.
