Passed away peacefully and gone to Glory on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, having turned 86 on May 30, 2025.
Mona Elaine Brown (née Starks) was born in Chatham Township, where she grew up alongside her brothers on her parents’ farms. A strong woman of faith, Elaine lived her life with grace, resilience, and an unshakable trust in God. She was predeceased by her beloved parents, Thomas and Helena Starks (née Dudley); her brothers, Stewart, Gary, and Bradley; her devoted husband, Richard Brown; and her cherished son, Eric.
She will be deeply mourned and missed by her children, André, Tony (Lorraine), and Penny (Rob Rixon). She was a loving Grama to Jeff (Terryl) & Ava, Jason (Brittany), and Luther (Wing). She is a treasured GG to Desiré (Mark), Adrianne, Layla & Noah, Isaac (Brianne), and Shayon. Elaine is also survived by her sisters and brothers-in-law, and will be fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the medical teams at LHSC for their care over the years, and to the incredible, loving staff at The Village of Glendale Crossing, where Mona lived a rich and meaningful life in her later years in the Lambeth community.
Mona Elaine’s faith was not only her foundation but also a light that guided and uplifted those around her. She offered encouragement in times of struggle, shared kindness without condition, and inspired others to walk in hope and love.
Funeral services will be held at Westview Funeral Home, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., with a reception to follow. A private family interment of ashes will take place at a later date in North Buxton.
Those wishing to honour Mona’s memory are invited to consider a donation to the Buxton National Historic Site & Museum.

I had the pleasure of taking care of Mona for the last couple years, Her smile could light up a room, in my darkest days Mona brought me back to life and for that I'm forever grateful.. she is a peace now with her god..I love and miss you so much Mona till we meet again my friend xoxoxo
Dear Tony and Lorraine, so sorry to hear of your mom's passing. I hope memories of days gone by will bring you comfort in the coming days, months and years. Thinking about you all.
