Devoted wife, loving mother, proud grandmother and joyous great-grandmother. Muriel passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, December 5, 2015, at the age of 86. Predeceased by her lifelong love and soulmate, Harold Sheere (1996). Much loved by her children Jay (Ingrid) Sheere of Anmore, BC, and Kim Gain (Mike Moffatt) of London; and grandchildren Kaity (Thomas), Krissy, Kelly, Klaire, Nina, Tyler and Katrina. Muriel excitedly welcomed the next generation on November 17, 2015, in her celebration of the arrival of her twin great-grandsons, Carter and Caiden Carmichael. We are all thankful she was part of this momentous occasion. Caring aunt to 29 nieces and nephews, Muriel was proud to hold the title of great-great-aunt to seven. Family was everything to Muriel. Born in Brantford into the Molloy family, Muriel always recalled wonderful times growing up with her mother Mary (née Yeates), father Edward, sisters Dorothy (Vic Waterfield) and Marion (Reg Taylor), brother Albert and her close Yeates cousins. At the age of 14, Muriel met Harold at the roller skating rink, and was immediately welcomed into his family of Elizabeth and Harold Sheere, Shirley (Al Van Ophem), Bette (Ian Thomson) and Carol (Wray Martin). Her memories and photos of those early years depict so much closeness, love, and laughter. Figure skating was Muriel’s second passion. In 1949, she and Harold joined ‘Skating Sensations’ and toured as professional skaters for one year. In 1951, after being married, they drove to Chicago to audition for the ‘Hollywood Ice Revue’, and spent two incredible years touring North America with Barbara Ann Scott and her troupe. Muriel coached for many years in the Brant Figure Skating Club and later in the London Skating Club. She had her grandchildren on skates when they were just toddlers, and devoted many memorable hours nurturing their skills, and passing on her love of skating. Muriel valued friendship, and was a loyal, caring, true friend to many. With her quiet determination, unyielding strength and endless positive outlook, she was an inspiration to all. Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 20, 2015 from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, where the funeral will be conducted on Monday, December 21, 2015 at 1:30 p.m., with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment at Woodland Cemetery. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Muriel are asked to consider the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Ontario.

I skated at the Brant Figure Skating Club when Mrs. Shere was coaching there, she was one of the first coaches I ever had! She loved skating and she taught us to do the same even when we were little! Such a sweet lady!
Muriel was the ultimate, kind, sweet person. Even in teaching she could be firm but still kind. We go back to my childhood days of skating with wonderful memories, even back to the little ice shows in the local parks. She was supportive when her sister'-in'-law, Carol (Sheere) Martin and I joined the Ice Follies and we have remained good friends over the years via email and a few times by phone. My sincere condolences to Jay, KIm and other family members. She will be missed by all.
Kim, Mike, and family; Know that we are grieving this loss with you! We know how close you all were to your Mom/Nana! I just love that you chose the picture of her with the twins for her obituary! The joy in her face is exactly how we will always remember her!!! We are here for you if you need anything! Love you all!

Kim, my sincerest condolences to you, Mike and family. Your mom was a wonderful woman, who I am certain inspired many people in her life. I had the privilege of speaking with her a number of times at your home, and I will always have fond memories of our conversations.

My most sincere condolences to Muriel's family and wishes that God may be with them through this time, comforting them and giving them the peace and assurance of all His promises. Because of Muriel the world is a better place. She left a legacy for all of us to follow. She taught me specially how to be better and always made me feel she cared. She was always willing to listen and to share with love and wisdom. She lived a graceful life, which radiated from her family to the many friends she made and knew how to keep throughout her life. I will always remember her in my heart; like someone you look up to. Thank you Muriel.
Jay, Kim, and families, my deepest sympathy. I have such fond memories of your mom. She was allways so wonderfully warm and caring. She and your dad had a big effect on all of us growing up on Burke Ave all those years ago.
All of our family wish to extend our sincere condolences to both Kim and Jay and your families on the passing of your dear mother, Muriel. She was so dedicated to her students, encouraging them to be the best they could be with the skills they had learned. She never faltered in her support of them and was the best role model both on and off the ice. Such a gentle, kind and inspiring sole to all students and parents alike. She will be missed but not forgotten. May she rest in peace and may your beautiful memories lessen your grief at this time.

Dear Kim and Jay and families; I am so sorry to learn of your Mom's passing. She was such a wonderful person, who cared about everyone she mentored and coached. She will truly be missed by all who knew her. I have some very fond memories of her and your Dad too. We had some lovely lunches at Dishington's in the last few years. I'm sorry that I won't get to the funeral, but my thoughts and prayers are with you all at this time. I really appreciated your phone call, Jay, it meant so much to me. Kim, Jay and Family and extended Family. My heartfelt condolences in the passing of Dear Muriel. The kind, gentle way she mentored so many of her skating pupils, was encouraging and influencial in how they lived their lives and achieved their goals. She truly was an inspiration to so many. Take comfort in the many wonderful memories you have and knowing how many people loved and admired her. My thoughts will be with you on the Dec. 21 as I will be visiting my daughter in San Diego for Christmas and unable to attend. ... Linn
