Muriel MacArthur

January 10, 2022

It is with great sadness and shattered hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our dear friend Muriel MacArthur on Monday, January 10th, 2022 at University Hospital, at the age of 92. Predeceased by her husband Lewis (Dec. 2020) after almost 70 years together. Dear aunt of Francis Petrunia and husband Steve of Burnaby, B.C. and Susan Reidlinger and husband Russ of Ruskin, B.C. Sister-in-law of the late Sherm MacArthur and his wife Leona of Nova Scotia. Muriel will be dearly missed by many family members, nieces and very close friends.

Muriel and Lewis enjoyed many years of travel which included Vancouver, The Maritimes, Australia, New Zealand, Hawaii and the Fiji Islands. Muriel worked for many years at the Ford Motor Company of Canada beginning in Oakville COB, and then on to the St. Thomas Assembly Plant for many years. Muriel was Secretary to many plant managers over the span of her career. After retirement, Muriel volunteered for 22 years at LHSC – University Hospital in the ICU department.

We had many special dinners and social events together over the years. A sincere thank you to all the wonderful staff at Chartwell Royalcliffe Retirement Residence and the caring health care providers at University Hospital. At Muriel’s request, there will be no visitation or service. Cremation has taken place. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Muriel are asked to consider the Canadian Lung Association, Salthaven Wildlife Rehabilitation & Education Centre or a charity of your choice.

Very sad to hear of Muriel's passing. Through our work experiences at Ford, I knew Muriel as a caring, compassionate and highly professional individual......and deeply valued her friendship. Be at peace Muriel.

I knew Muriel for over 20 years when we were both involved in University Hospital, and I will never forget her desire and compassion in helping the patients. We also had laughs and fun outside of the hospital, and will never forget the bus trips and outings we took. It was a joy being with her and I hope her relatives and friends know what a wonderful person she was. R.I.P. Muriel. From Betty

So very sorry to hear of Muriel's passing. As a long-time co-worker of Muriel's, I will always remember her grace, professionalism, and friendliness. Above all, she was just a really great person. I'm sure the the next stop for Muriel will be a reunion with Lewis who we lost just over a year ago. R.I.P. Muriel......
