Pauline Mae Males

With heavy hearts we sadly announce the passing of Pauline Mae Males (née Wallace) on Thursday, November 24^th, 2016 due to a series of recent strokes. Born on May 2^nd, 1927 and approaching her 90th year, she leaves her loving husband of 68 years, Fred Males, and two daughters, Calla Mahon and Gaye Males (Jim Malcolmson). Born to Mae and William Wallace, both deceased, she was the oldest of 12 children, six sisters and six brothers. She was close to, and is survived by her sisters Donna (Paul Smith), Judith Easter, and brothers Bill Wallace (Rosemary), Vernon Wallace (Brenda), Meredith Wallace and Eon Wallace. She now joins her deceased siblings: Margaret Coll, Carole Mazzi, Tommy, Charmaine (Brian Hall) and Beverley. She was a grandmother to Heather Gray (Steve Gray) and great-grandmother to Lily, Cooper and Taten Gray. She will be remembered by numerous nieces and nephews. Family gatherings and larger reunions were always looked forward to and sharing stories about the old days growing up always brought a round of laughter to all in attendance. As a young woman, Pauline worked as a Bell Telephone Operator. Pauline and Fred loved to dance and it was magical to watch them on the dance floor. Together they ran two businesses, Fred Males Plumbing & Heating and Beauty in the Bathroom Shoppe. She was a strong supporter of the St. Joseph’s Ladies Auxillary. Pauline was a creative seamstress and costume maker for many of Gaye’s dance recitals as a young girl at the formerly known as Carter Dance Studio. She supported Fred with his love of golf but did not play herself. She was an avid reader of the daily newspaper and listener of the local news. With lovely blue eyes, her favourite colours were blue, purple and pink. She enjoyed meeting people and could start a conversation with anyone. A life-long Londoner, she and Fred enjoyed renovating their Port Stanley cottage into a home before returning back to London. Here they have benefitted from the many friendships made at Cherryhill Plaza and the caring, wonderful neighbours in their condo complex. Our sincere thanks and appreciation to Dr. Koivu and her staff and to the Palliative Care Unit at University Hospital 10th floor. Mom received compassionate care from everyone who attended to her needs on her final journey. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, on Sunday, November 27^th, 2016 from 1:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to Parkinson Society Southwestern Ontario would be appreciated.
