I could write a little book about the adventures I had with Peter. We met in Church and went to high school together. Peter was the best trumpet player far and wide and it was an honour and a pleasure to play with him in school bands and even once a duet in the church. Peter was a great story teller. If we ended up at his aunt and uncles and wanted to spend the night at the boat house, instead of just asking, which would have been fine, he first told a story about how come something else hadn't worked. He usually didn't include monsters unless he was telling stories to his little brother. Still when I listen to Maynard Ferguson I think of Peter. We went to every concert we could even if it meant hitchhiking to Toronto and getting our parents all worried. He was a beautiful man and his music and his quirky way of taking on the world will be missed.
