Phyllis Eva Price
April 11, 2021
Peacefully passed away with her loving family at her side, on Sunday, April 11, 2021, in her 97th year. Survived by her adoring nieces, Nancy and June Moser. Predeceased by her sister, Blanche. Phyllis spent her life in the service of others; education was her passion. She was born in London, and attended St. George’s Public School, Central Secondary School, and one year of Normal School for teaching on the University of Western Ontario site. She taught at Lobo Public School, Huron Park Public School in Woodstock, Medway High School, and then at Oakridge Secondary School for 19 years (1958 – 1980). She taught English, Library, and Geography. After receiving her Masters in Library Science (in Kalamazoo, Michigan), she served as school librarian. Phyllis had a love of the outdoors and travelling and was a “super” gardener. She enjoyed all of her trips to China, Japan (twice), England, Ireland, Scotland, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Greece, Egypt, Bermuda, and the Islands. She was an avid reader and had a remarkable memory. Cremation has taken place. A family memorial service will be held later at the graveside. The family extends its greatest thanks to all of the medical support staff. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Phyllis are asked to consider the Children’s Health Foundation, of which Phyllis was a longtime donor.

I remember her well. Phyllis was the head librarian at Oakridge Secondary when I was a student in the 70s. A fixture at Oakridge, she was an anchor for many of us. I remember her as calm and reliable, an adult who created a safe space. May she rest in peace.
I remember Miss Price and volunteered along side her from Gr 10-13 (1970 to 1973) through the Library Club. While there really was only time to put away the books, there were also some sharing of her stories/memories. She created a calming atmosphere within the library, and I always enjoyed going there/speaking with Miss Price. My sincere condolences on her passing, and my thoughts and prayers are with her family. Miss Price you will be forever in our hearts, thoughts and memories. May you Rest in Peace.
