Rada Marinescu

Rada Marinescu, beloved wife of the late Neculai Marinescu for 52 wonderful years, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 9th, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love and devotion. She was a loving mother to Marius and his wife Daniela of Orange, CT, and Sorin of London, ON, and a cherished ex-mother-in-law to Ioana Voicu.

Rada was a devoted grandmother to Andreea, Matei, Anna-Maria, and Alexandra. She is survived by her sister, Nuti Filip and her husband Gioni, her sister Mia Iordache and her husband George, and her brother, Vasile Strimbeanu and his wife Viorica. She also leaves behind nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends in Canada, the United States, Romania and Germany.

Born in Romania, Rada graduated from university and taught Physics and Chemistry before immigrating to Canada. She worked various jobs and retired from the University of Western Ontario in the Admission Department. Known for her hard work, devotion, and conscientious nature, Rada was a pillar of strength and kindness.

In 1970, Rada married Neculai, and they welcomed two sons, Marius and Sorin. The family lived in Constanta, Romania, before moving to London, Ontario, where they established their home. Rada found joy in gardening, sewing, baking, and fishing. She was an avid reader and excelled in word puzzles, including Sudoku and crosswords. Her home was a haven of warmth and love, and her grandchildren were her pride and joy.

Embracing the role of “Mamaie Rodica,” Rada poured her heart into raising her grandchildren. Anna and Alex, living farther away, enjoyed “Mamaie” any chance they got. Andreea and Matei, who lived next door, spent countless hours at her home, enjoying sleepovers and learning to read and write. Rada cherished traveling with all of her grandchildren and created countless lasting memories.

Rada will be deeply missed, and her impact on the lives of those she loved cannot be fully captured in words. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.

Visitation will be held at Westview Funeral Home on Thursday, March 12, 2026 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.  The funeral service will be held at Westview Funeral Home in London, Ontario on Friday, March 13, 2026 at 1:00 p.m., followed by the interment at Woodland Cemetery, London.
