SCHLUP, Ralph

March 1, 1953 – June 11, 2016

With heavy hearts we announce the death of Ralph Schlup.  Dear son of Trudy Schlup of London, brother of Doris Staub and Fredy of Flaach, Switzerland, brother-in-law of Sharon Schlup of Woodstock, uncle of Marisa and Melanie Staub, Laura and Marco Koster and great-uncle to Maximilian and Julia all of Switzerland.  Predeceased by his brother Beat Schlup (2003) and by his father Erwin Schlup (2009).  Ralph worked at GM in London and Woodstock for many years, where he was known to some as Helmut.  He was a successful arm-wrestler, talented woodcarver and a lover of horses.  Unfortunately he chose to be alone and cut off ties to many friends as well as family over the last 3 years.  We will keep him in our memories as the happy-go-lucky fellow we remember.  We would like to thank his dear friends, Kim and Clarky, as well as his kind neighbours who helped whenever they could.  At Ralph’s request, there will be no memorial service or interment.  Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Ralph are asked to consider the Canadian Mental Health Association or the Canadian Diabetes Association.

Trudy, so sorry to hear of the passing of your son Ralph and my friend. Ralph brought much laughter and joy to many of us. It is sad that we could not do the same for him in the last few years. Know that many at GM treasured Ralph.

~ Katherine deBoer

So very sorry to hear of Ralph leaving us all too soon. We worked with him for the duration at GM and really treasure our fond memories of such a sweet, kindhearted guy. We will remember him as a really great guy who will sadly be missed. Our sincerest sympathy to his family.

My condolenses to Ralph's family, Ralph was one of my best friends. We shared many laughs and beers together. If you didn't enjoy life around Ralph, it was your fault. He will be missed.

I was so sorry to hear of Ralph passing. I had the pleasure of working with Ralph and Beat at GM in Woodstock. Had a lot of laughs with both of them. He will be missed by everyone that knew him.

~ Barb Fitzmorris

`Our condolences to Mrs. Schlup, Doris and families. I had the pleasure of working with Ralph many years at the GM Woodstock warehouse. We were quite good friends and shared many good times together. Ralph was the kind of guy who would do anything for you, was a dedicated worker (when it wasn't a Winky , Wally and Walphy Day), loved fondues, his coffee, and animals (Jayport Blaze, Molly and Wally). Ralph would let you know what he thought of something right out....forget the political correctness, he often said what others thought but dare not say. He was a good son and looked after his parents and their home. He had a smile that was infectious. Unfortunately we kind of lost touch in recent years and I regret that ....but will cherish the great times we had together. Our prayers and thoughts are with the family ..... God Bless Roger, Jan and Aynsley Porchak
