Kristine, I am so sorry to hear of your Dads passing. I have many great memories of him of our oar house days and days out on the golf course. Well respected man, god bless you and your family.
Kristene, I'm very sorry for your loss. I taught with your Dad back at the beginning of my career in the mid 1970's. Although I haven't seen Rick in many years, I have many happy memories of the years we worked together at 'The Ranch'. So long, old friend...
I had Mr. Romyn as my grade 5 and 6 teacher, he was an amazing man. The only teacher I had that took the time to teach me how to be left handed! I always enjoyed the nature walks we would take as a class, the camping trips to camp sylvan and his threat to go over every bridge on our way to the suction bog because my classmate was afraid of bridges, also his very quick wit, because as most people knew he didn't last long at the m&m factory. He was a great teacher and always knew how to handle the tougher issues as well, I always respected him and thought he was a great guy. Truly sorry to hear of his passing.
I first met Rick at Parkhill -West Williams elementary school. He was always enthusiastic and willing to take on tasks. We lost contact until he came to teach at Caradoc South school where he taught grade 4-5. We then met again at East Williams school where he taught grade 6. He always handled difficult classroom situations with confidence and kindness. He was determined that his students learn to be good citizens in and outside of school. He was an excellent teacher and leader as well as a person that didn't tolerate foolish behaviour. He was very supportive of the SunShine foundation and ran a golf outing in support of this great cause. It is hard to believe Rick has passed at such a young age. Our thoughts are with his family and friends who will miss him dearly. Gerry
