In 1982, during what seemed like an ordinary moment, Mr. Stephenson pulled me aside. I can’t recall why, but I’ve never forgotten what he told me. His words gave me confidence and carried me through moments of doubt for more than four decades. He probably never knew what that quiet encouragement meant. But that’s what great teachers do, they plant seeds that grow long after the classroom fades. I’m grateful our paths crossed. I won’t forget him.

My heart goes out to the entire family, who are stronger than many. From all that I've heard, Richard was a special man, and I am extremely proud of the people who are being faced with the unfortunate grief. He will live in every one of his loved ones, and will watch over to protect and shield. May he rest in piece.

Fond memories of cousin Rick! He got to attend a Rider game in Regina with Mike, a number of years ago! Thinking of you all. We will watch the service online. Sincerely Mike and Cindy (Regjna, Sask)

I have known Rick since the early 1990’s when he, Jean and our mutual friends Dale and Ron Bleier used to gather on a regular basis for rousing games of Trivial Pursuit and Pictionary. Rick and Ron were the clear artists of the group and I was clearly the worst. We used to say that Rick and Ron had a telepathic connection as they could guess a picture from drawing just a few lines and could come up with the most obscure answers for Trivial Pursuit. One could hear gales and gales of laughter to the point we had tears streaming down our cheeks we were laughing so hard. Those were such good times. I will always treasure the laughter and Rick’s inherent kindness. Rest in peace Rick and thank you for the honour of your friendship. My condolences to Wendy and Rick’s family.

Based on what Jack has shared with us, his grandpa was a special man whom will be missed dearly. May he rest in peace and all of you be able to take comfort in his memories.

Rick was an incredibly kind, gentle, and caring, neighbour. We will always remember his warmth and generosity—especially with our kids (maybe a little too generous at times, but we loved him for it!). His wit and sense of humor made our conversations entertaining, and our long talks will be missed. We will forever hold onto those fond memories. Our hearts go out to Rick’s family during this difficult time. Please know we are holding you in our thoughts.

We are holding you, Wendy and your family in our hearts on the passing of Rick. Rest in peace Rick. We enjoy your smiles and your kind ways.
