Peacefully after a brief illness with his wife by his side. Beloved husband of Kathryn Noel. Son of the late Donald Macmillan and Roberta Bown of Cookshire, Quebec. Much loved brother of Arnold (Gail), Neil (Lise), and the late Brenda (Denis). Cremation has taken place. Sincere thanks to his many dear friends and colleagues. To honour Bob’s work as a former teacher, principal, professor, Associate Dean of Graduate Studies and Research (the University of Western Ontario), and Dean of Education (the University of Manitoba), an award for graduate study in Educational Leadership is being organized. As my friend, mentor, scholar, colleague, teacher, and kindred spirit, Bob will be more than missed by all who came to know him. I truly hope that his humanity will serve as an exemplar for all of us. Our family's sympathies go to Kathryn and her family.
Shock and sadness to hear of Bob's passing. I came to know Bob as a a co-worker and a friend when I started working in Education at StFX. I always thought I would see him again. Kathryn, my thoughts and prayers are with you and family.
Dear Kathryn My heart is filled with sadness, it has always been such a pleasure helping Bob and you with your adventures. I hope that these will bring you many happy memories to warm your heart in the weeks to come. Knowing Bob's great love for gardening I am sure he is tending the gardens in heaven at this moment. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
Dear Kathryn, Please accept my deepest sympathy on Bob's death. I saw Bob in May at CSSE and he was the same cheerful Bob he always was and so happy in the Dean's position. He was always so kind to me both while working at STFX together and later when we met at meetings. He will be greatly missed. Ann Sherman

Kathyrn, I only met you once at the CASEA dinner in New Brunswick where you and Bob were discussing how you would manage working in two locales. Bob I saw in Vancouver in April, and over the years he has been a key member of my CASEA connection so my thoughts are with you and your family.
Bob's work in helping to support the Education Department at St. Francis Xavier during the years of rationalization of University programming in Nova Scotia will always be remembered. In difficult times, Bob showed his strength. He was dedicated to his work and his ideals. There are no words that aptly convey the shock and sadness upon hearing of Bob's sudden passing. He was a true gentleman and scholar, and will be missed dearly. To Kathryn and his entire family, my most heartfelt sympathies.
