If Rob was driving to the volleyball tournament, I was always volunteering to ride with him. He will be remembered fondly. Condolences to the family.

I was one of the lucky ones to play hockey for Mr. Waugh or to most us “Wagi”. I was devastated to hear of his passing. Wagi always made me feel like I had not only a great coach but a true friend in him. He had our backs always, I’ll cherish the times we had together, and I will miss him dearly. My thoughts are with his family. Keep your stick on the ice Wagi. Ryan Prentice

I was lucky enough to play hockey for Coach Waugh at Saunders. I would run through a brick wall for him. Thinking about his family and friends 🙏. Rest easy Coach you will be celebrated and remembered always 🪽

This was difficult news to hear. I had Mr. Waugh for gym class one year. He was a great teacher and every time I saw him in the hall throughout my time at Saunders we always said hello to one another. He was very nice to me and to my sister who came after me and my brothers as well who were at Saunders before me. Gone far too soon. Rest In Peace Mr. Waugh and thank you for being a great man and teacher.

My son played Saunders high school hockey with Rob and Paul. He did admire the two of them, in fact he came back grade 14 so he could play hockey. I know if my son was still alive he would be there. We lost Ross coming up 2 years ago at the age of 55.

I had the privilege of being an unofficial fourth member of the Waugh household since the age of 10. I stayed over there so often, I sometimes have my own chores and became very fond of Rob. At least then it was two on two and sibling shenanigans. A true gentleman, he would be my escort to events for which I did not have a partner and who wouldn’t have been proud with that handsome man walking beside you 🙂 I know he was a devoted father and greatly respected as a teacher and coach by many. I’m truly sorry we were not in touch in later years. Rest in peace Rob

I am so saddened to hear of Rob’s passing. He was a true asset to Saunders Secondary school where I had the pleasure of working with him. I am grateful to have known him. May his memory forever be a blessing. Sincerely, Amy Mooser

I met Robbie through Southwest London Pee-Wee Baseball. We went on to Westmount Public School (the first graduating class) and Saunders Secondary School. I remember Robbie as an avid sportsman. He didn't just play his sports; he studied and mastered his sports. In baseball, he was a skilled 'lefty' multi-position player and switch-hitter. He played first base, got on the pitcher's mound and showed his abilities wherever the coaches needed him. He was an avid golfer in high school and also a big part of the Sabres' hockey success of our era. Hearing that he later went on to become a Phys-Ed Teacher and leader made me smile. What a fitting way for this humble, gracious man to give back locally in his community, every day to kids aspiring in all sports and recreation. We lost touch far too early, Robbie. RIP. Condolences to your family, friends and students. Pictured kneeling 2nd from right. His dad Coach upper rear right.

My heart breaks to hear this news. I went to school with Robbie from the time we were 10 and I remember a very happy kid who was at the centre of all the fun and laughter always. I will hold that memory and send my deepest condolences to his entire family.

Deeply saddened to hear of "Robbie's" passing. He was a good friend to many of us in our elementary school days at Sherwood Fox and we have fun memories of him. His story was wonderful to read as it seems as though he continued thru life being the good, good person he was in those early days. My sincere condolences.

Rob was one in a million!! Kind, caring, thoughtful. A gentle soul with a heart of gold. Whenever you’d see Rob, he’d be taking someone’s dog for a walk or taking the time to chat &/or ask how someone’s day was going. Rob had a genuine interest in the heart of others. He certainly made a difference in the lives of many, including mine. He was a good friend. Rob, I’m grateful you asked for a hug not that many days ago. Funny how the simple things become the most meaningful & memorable as time passes. I will miss you, my friend. 💔

Rest in peace Rob you will be missed. Murph will miss his walks. Ann Marie and Murphy

Rob always had a great attitude, when I first met him a few years back; we spoke of sports , fitness and god. He was a great friend to myself, Nevada and most of all his love for cheese our dog. He would often drop off treats and inquire to the well being of cheese. He was a good person. Always had a smile and a quick joke. He put others before himself, often spoke of how much he loved his children. I looked forward to playing games and tossing the ball in this summer to come with him. Though that didn’t come to pass. Let this be a reminder to check in on the ones you cherish. And to look behind the smiles and I’m okays . One day you wake up and a friend / family is not there to share a quick joke or friendly smile. Good people are rare, I was lucky enough to befriend one in Rob. Rob is now in heaven waiting for those of us who remain; with a big smile and a helping hand. Until we meet again, I will cherish the time we had together my friend. Aaron, nev, cheese
