Robert David ‘Barrie’ Dale

April 16, 1947 - March 18, 2023

It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Robert David “Barrie” Dale on Saturday, March 18, 2023, in his 76th year.

Beloved husband of 55 years to Marlene Dale (née Atchison). Missed by his children Edward (Tanya Sabourin) of London, Ontario, Elizabeth (Matthew Butson) of Portland, Oregon, and Sarah Jane Dowling of Windsor, Ontario. He was a loving papa to Simon Butson. Also survived by granddaughters Alyssa and Emma Robson; Ireland and Paisley Dowling. Son of the late Lennis and D. Alethea Dale. A special thanks to Barrie’s sister Sheila Mitchell (Dan), who took very good care of him for many years. Predeceased by his brothers Frank (Joan) and John. Uncle of Christian (Kaylah) Mitchell, Colton Mitchell, Shannon, and Ryan Dale. Barrie will be missed by his friend Lew Worsley, and his beloved cat, Will.

Barrie was a long-time member of Crumlin Gun club and the Optimist Club, where he met many friends. He retired from General Motors after 30 years and volunteered for 20 years with the cleanup of the Thames River. He was an avid classic car enthusiast and always enjoyed helping with getting kids to play hockey.

Barrie was a resident of peopleCare Oakcrossing. Even with many medical problems, he always remained strong-willed. We all would like to thank Dr. Susan McNair and staff, and Oakcrossing Care for their kind and loving care of Barrie.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
