Robert Paul (Bob) Andrighetti

March 3, 1951 - May 7, 2026

Bob Andrighetti, born March 3, 1951, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on May 7, 2026, after a 2-year battle with ALS. Beloved husband to Fae (his “Gift from God”), father to Michelle (Sergey), Roxanne, and David (Melissa).  Adored Grandpa Nonno to Aleksandra, Dorothy, Anton, Nava, Maksim and Tripp.

A lifelong learner and lover of religion and spirituality, he became an active member of the worldwide Baha’i community, which he discovered and embraced at the age of eighteen. The Baha’i Faith was a guiding light in his life, leading him to meet his beloved wife Fae while on pilgrimage to the Holy Land.  This resulted in them pioneering together to Zaire in Africa, where they helped with the development of the Baha’i community, and where two of their three children were born.

He spent several decades learning Arabic in order to read the Writings of Baha’u’llah (Founder of the Baha’i Faith) in its original language, reaching a level of fluency that led a university professor of Arabic to ask him to help with translations.

A man of many talents and gifts, his children and grandchildren were lucky to have inherited many from him, including the gift of music, speaking, writing, and a deep sense of spiritual purpose. He had a wide range of hobbies and interests, including biking, studying ancient texts, and was an avid ham radio enthusiast (VE3AMW was his call sign).

Bob was an active member of Toastmasters International for many years, and through him, many others learned the valuable gifts of communication, leadership, and public speaking.

In May of 2024 he was diagnosed with an extremely aggressive form of ALS, and in October of the same year, doctors said that he likely wouldn’t make it to Christmas, but by God’s grace and the loving support of his family, he beat all the odds.  Despite being completely paralyzed, he managed, with the help of his family, to write and publish an autobiographical memoir of his early life and time spent in Zaire as a Baha’i pioneer, titled “Memoirs of Faith and Life in Zaire”.

He held on strong – nearly 2 years longer than the doctors anticipated – reaching several significant milestones, including the completion of his book, his 75th birthday, and his 49th wedding anniversary, all while being completely paralyzed and unable to move anything more than his eyes and mouth.

Bob’s story inspired many, raising awareness of ALS, and his son and daughter-in-law held a fundraising gala in his honour, raising over $50,000. for the ALS Society of Canada.

His family will be forever grateful for the outpouring of love and support from friends, especially during the time of his illness.

He will be greatly missed, but he will be a valuable source from which to draw spiritual strength. His legacy will continue to live on through his children and grandchildren.

“The diversity in the human family should be the cause of love and harmony, as it is in music where many different notes blend together in the making of a perfect chord.”
