Roberta Elizabeth Green
April 15, 2021
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Roberta Elizabeth Green (nee Drummond) on April 15, 2021 at the age of 89 years.
Roberta, aka “Bobbie”, “Midge” and “Bette” was loved by all who were fortunate to have known her including her son David White (Patty) and the granddaughters who she was incredibly proud of Morgan Renkema (Nathan), Dylan Blake (Aaron) and adored grandson Mackenzie.
Roberta was predeceased by her spouse, partner and best friend William Green (2013) and her beloved daughter Susan Lutes (John) in 2018. Roberta was also predeceased recently by her life-long friend of 85 years, Holly Puttock (2021).
Mom was born in Toronto on September 2, 1931 to parents Michael and Roberta Drummond (predeceased) joining brother Johnny and followed by sister Grace and brother George (all predeceased). She thoroughly enjoyed her career working as a Lab Technician in Toronto, Hamilton and finally in London where she worked for more than 20 years in the Microbiology and Immunology Department at Western University loving every minute of the work that she did.
Roberta was an extremely kind, loving, independent, inquisitive person who took tremendous pride in her family and provided all of us with unwavering support. She loved family gatherings and socializing with her many friends. Prior to moving to Newmarket at the start of Covid-19, mom enjoyed her life at The Gartshore where she had many friends, enjoyed great conversations with her gang and was extremely active in all activities that occurred there. She was a big-time Friday night bingo winner on many occasions.
It’s funny that some special people don’t realize that they are special at all. They are thoughtful without ever thinking about it and share, not expecting anything in return. They teach us so much about living and don’t really know it. Mom was one of those very special people and will be horribly missed by all who loved her, but never forgotten.
Cremation has taken place and a private family gathering will be held on Monday, April 19, 2021 at Oakland Cemetery where she will join Bill for eternity. We will have a Celebration of the Life of a truly special person, at a later date, once we can all gather and socialize as Mom would want us to do.
Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Roberta are asked to consider Community Living London or the YMCA.

Bobbi was a treasured resident at the Gartshore. I will always remember her gentle nature and the smile always on display. I'll treasure the times we shared washing dishes after the weekly coffee hour while we chatted about our families. Bobbi was a favourite here and we've missed her presence. She is missed by many. RIP Bobbi!
I am Gwen Butler, one of Bill Green's nieces. I was sorry to hear of Roberta's passing. I have fond memories of visiting with Bill and Roberta while visiting my dad, George Jeffery at Trafalgar Terrace and many Green family get togethers. Lots of laughs and lively discussions. She was always so interested in us and our families. Our thoughts and prayers will be with you all as you mourn the passing of someone you hold so dear. Gwen Butler (Jeffery)
I am very sad to hear of Bobbi's passing. We met in 1997 working at Western and became fast friends during our many beautiful walks on campus and especially Brescia College. Our birthdays are days apart and we agreed that we were both adorable and quite perfect! She was a bright penny and added greatly to the world. She and Bill enjoyed so many wonderful adventures together even when staying home. I will miss her so very much. Rest In Peace dear friend. I love you.
I am so sad to learn of Bobbi's passing. When she lived at the Gartshore, she loved to attend our Wednesday evening sing-alongs. She would say she couldn't sing but she never missed an opportunity. She called out the songs she wanted to sing, stayed until the very end, and never failed to thank the leaders. I missed her when she moved, and think of her often.
With much sadness I say goodbye to a very dear friend. We had many fun times together and drives to her favorite places with good lunches or picnics included. I miss you Bobbi with all my heart.
I am another of Bill Green's nieces. My family and I have only just learned of Roberta's sad passing. I was fortunate to visit her at the Gartshore in summer 2019 before the pandemic hit. I have many fond memories of times with Bill and Roberta as they were very social and a fixture at our Green family gatherings around southwestern Ontario! They seldom missed a party. Roberta had a joie de vivre and was interested in many people and things. She was kind to me, my husband and son. As well, she was thoughtful to my Dad (her brother-in-law), my Mom and siblings. My sincere condolences to her family. With love, Carol Ian and Paul
